  1. @pavitra @pj If you like food and comedy, the #OffMenu podcast is a good one.

Can always listen to #KEXP. I never get tired of them

  3. John Robins having recently been on #OffMenu and now on #Taskmaster caused me to look up his act, which led me to him and Alex Horne's channel Bad Golf and thanks to what is probably #adhd (or possibly just a very weak will) I'm consumed by a desire to play #golf

The last time I held a non-mini golf club was...30+ years ago? For about 1-2 games?

I don't own a set of clubs and I've never booked, if that's the term, a tee time, if that's the term.

I need a Golf Buddy to take me out...

  8. I've been recommending crumbled feta #cheese on #tacos for years.

Then a guest on the #offmenu #podcast mentioned that "thick slabs" are the only way to eat feta and #EdGamble agreed (#JamesAcaster, like me, had no idea what this was about).

I tried thick slabs. I love thick slabs of feta. But it isn't as good on tacos.

    #fyi

  9. The Paul Foot episode of #OffMenu #Podcast is recommended. I especially love the episodes where #EdGamble and #JamesAcaster can barely keep it together. Kearns, Chowdry and Mortimer are other guests who've done that.

"#Comedy for #comedians" is definitely a whole nother level.

  10. #JamesAcaster has referenced the same scene from #Hook on the #OffMenu #podcast several times, so I decided to watch the whole thing.

This movie is incredibly slow and heavy-handed. I'm over 30m in and we've finally met the first Never-never person (but Peter's still in the "I must be crazy!" stage). (Tink is played by Julia Roberts which is...not working.)

  19. I've been absolutely hoovering up the #offmenu #podcast. I don't even like these things, but it's brilliant and accessible. #JamesAcaster is a friendly, humble #comedy genius (and #EdGamble isn't bad either)

I think my two favorite things to learn have been:

    1. How many #uk #food there are that I've never even heard of (e.g. all these poppadom dips every restaurant seems to serve)

    2. How much #us #media they consume over there. The #PBS kids show #Arthur got casually dropped in this ep!

  24. I thought I knew that #UK calls lemonade "lemon squash".

However, the #OffMenu #food #podcast has referred at various times (sometimes in a single episode) to "squash" (as a drink), "lemonade", "juice" and "orange juice". So now I don't know what to believe.

    WTF is "squash"?

  25. Since April I've been catching up with the Off Menu podcast from the start and now I'm finally caught up. It is such a great show - hear for yourself - there's a nice "Best of" list at denofgeek.com/podcast/off-menu
Or just go to the source offmenupodcast.co.uk/episodes

Any other #OffMenu podcast fans out there?

  26. I've been obsessively listening to #OffMenu. It's been eye-opening and thought-provoking (and laugh-producing).

One thing I wonder about is what country's cuisine is (second-)most popular in each country. In the US I'd say Mexican. In the #UK, it's obviously #indianfood

Lots of guests have opinions on "poppadoms or bread" but tortilla chips have never come up in any context. (I mean, salsa is essentially tomato chutney, right?)

Interested to know your country and most-ordered "foreign" food.

  27. Best #OffMenu #podcast episodes (not in order)

    Victoria Coren Mitchell
    Judi Love
    John Kearns
    Greg Davis
    Claudia Winkleman
    Joe Thomas

Joe is an incredible storyteller and by that I mean I cannot believe anyone pays this person money to tell stories. I mean...I can, because it's very entertaining. But he can't get three words into a sentence without going off on five tangents. Amazing. Definitely worth a listen. He makes James Acaster sound like a straight man (comedically speaking)

  28. Thanks to the #Taskmaster #podcast I've been hearing about #OffMenu a lot and I started listening this week.

Definitely amazing even if you aren't a #foodie. The chemistry. The comedy. The editing.

Fave guests so far are Judi Love, John Kearns, Victoria Coren-Mitchell and Greg Davis.

VCM in particular I fall in love with more every time I encounter her. She absolutely shuts them down. "Those people don't want to eat food, they want to eat an anecdote."

  29. Huge respect to @KathyBurke for proudly championing #MilkFirst in tea on @OffMenuOfficial! ☕️ And for telling Heston Blumenthal to "do one". 😂👊🏻 #OffMenu #OffMenuPodcast player.fm/series/off-menu-with

  30. Happy 26th of #Veganuary!

This is ACTUALLY a comic in two parts, right?! With the left side depicting a visit to a fully vegan restaurant, and the right being everywhere else?

Do YOU have any tips or resources for vegans on how to successfully navigate eating out while (and after) transitioning?

    ---

We're posting every day this month on the theme of "Veganuary". See the YourVeganFallacyIs.com site for more.

Also, am I to understand that Wendy Darling hooked Peter Pan up with her 13yo granddaughter? That seems....creepy.
