LibreOffice reminds us: DOCX, XLSX, PPTX are proprietary formats that create vendor lock-in. When you save in these formats, you're subject to MSFT's decisions. If they change specs, your documents could become unreadable. They also contain hidden/undocumented features such as tracking, and private extensions. Microsoft can intentionally degrade output on 3rd-party apps, or worse.

@jaypeach53 @ChrisMayLA6 I've been using it in my work for 16 years & have only had it produce 3 files that couldn't be opened by MS' offering. In those the client was content with #odf or #pdf equivalents. :)

I routinely put the text from MS Office documents through a plain text editor in order to remove all this formatting mess & confusion.
This is not necessary with #ODF. The text & layout can be copied & pasted, as is, into most HTML & rich text editors without issue - an invaluable time-saver if you produce content for the web.

This is not necessary with #ODF. The text & layout can be copied & pasted, as is, into most HTML & rich text editors without issue - an invaluable time-saver if you produce content for the web.

Although I must say I agree that #ODF ( #OpenDocumentFormat ) , defender by #LibreOffice should be the #DEFAULT #OPÉN #DOCUMENT #FORMAT... , AND #NOT #OOXML which is the closed and #proprietary format by #Microsoft

なるほどー
OpenXML を採用した理由が気になるな。もしかしたらMS の Office から乗り換え時の互換性を優先してそうしているのかもしれないけど、OpenXML の経緯とかをちょっと調べてみると、確かに国際標準規格ではあるもののあんまり Microsoft があんまり真面目に普及するつもりがなさそう（自前のアプリのデフォルトファイルフォーマットは結局プロプライエタリな別フォーマットっぽい）。まあ、どういう理由だったとしてもそりゃあ #LibreOffice は #ODF 採用してくれよとは言うよね
