    It's a long and fun interview, and I agree with many of the things which Doctorow mentions, such as climate change and what the Luddites were about and that a chatbot giving an explanation of what it did is very unlikely to be the same as what it actually did. Those systems can't really explain, they can "cargo cult" what an explanation of such-and-such might statistically look like given the training data.
