Looking at this by coincidence and realizing it's been over a year now. Notty is firmly a house-cat, learning to using "talking" buttons, and generally being a menace. Just today she's made an escape attempt out the back door, driven me nuts with the "treats" button, and knocked over several of my wife's author-copy books from a shelf in my hallway. And the Legos are a full-blown obsession now, ESPECIALLY the mini-figures.

Just a very short video of Notty Cat using her talking buttons to hit me up for treats. I negotiate a compromise to do a training session, where she does tricks to command in exchange for threats. I much prefer treat access to be tied to stimulation and activities. She's a smart (if distractible) cat, and needs the relief from boredom.

Finally saw my first hummingbird! I didn't expect to see any, since I didn't put the feeders out this spring for the first time in 43 years due to #NotMyCat 's presence during the day. So that was special!

For my birthday this morning, Notty Cat gave me the clearest cat conversation yet. She made several attempts to wake me early, but I have a firm rule: No food or treats until after 7. When I wasn't up by 7:30, she marched over to her buttons and pressed "all done." She watched me for a bit, and when I didn't get up, she pressed it again. And again. Watching me each time. Then she pressed...

Notty is making real progress differentiating her talking buttons. We've been working especially on her favorite buttons, water, play, and training. I assumed that "treat" would be the favorite, but she hardly uses it so far. "Pets" and "wants" are also popular.
