Nitrocid 0.2.1 Tech Preview is available

This year, we’ve released a new major version of Nitrocid that brought lots of amazing new features that we were working on since last year. It brought attractive new look and general improvements to the whole kernel, while introducing new features that improve your user experience, including:

• Chatbot AI
• Widget Canvas API
• Configurable modern logon screen and homepage
• …and so on.

As we are less than two years shy of the tenth year anniversary of the first ever version of Nitrocid, which was v0.0.1 released February 22nd, 2018, we are so happy to announce that the new version of Nitrocid is under construction.

Starting from today, you can now obtain an early taste of how Nitrocid 0.2.1 will evolve. Based on our previous experiences with the previous technical preview of 0.2.0, we’ve finished implementing all the technical side of this version, and real development will start early next month.

Temporary pause applied to Chocolatey package updates

Since several years ago, we have been providing Chocolatey packages for each new version of our applications, such as Nitrocid and BassBoom. Both of these applications used manual extraction as the method, and our Chocolatey packages tried to make it easier for users to install them. Since then, we’ve implemented the WiX installer method so that Windows users can install our applications seamlessly.

However, we are currently running into problems with pushing new Chocolatey packaging for each new version of our projects, due to the changes and the adjustments that we’ve made so that our packages use the WiX installation method for more consistency with the rest of the install methods.

As those technical problems are serious and need a bit of time to analyze and to solve, we’ve decided to temporarily halt the distribution of all further Chocolatey packages for new versions of our projects, including Nitrocid (0.2.1 TP, 0.2.0.x, and 0.1.0.x) and BassBoom (1.0.x).

This temporary halt will give us time to find the root cause and to attempt to provide a permanent fix.

Announcing the new Nitrocid Tech Preview set to release June 27th, 2026

The new major release of Nitrocid is beginning to take shape as we have released updates to the essential libraries needed to run it. As today is a summer solstice day, we are celebrating it by announcing this big news as we start working on the bigger stage of development.

Nitrocid 0.2.0 was released earlier this year to introduce new features and to incorporate general improvements to ensure that the application becomes more stable than before, with the introduction of widget canvases and two-factor authentication to increase both flexibility and security, respectively.

Now, we are announcing that the new major version of Nitrocid is undergoing the finalization of the initial stage, with the technical preview release that is scheduled to happen on the 27th of June. There won’t be a specific time to release, so expect the second release announcement at any hour on the same day, providing you with more info on both Aptivi Blog and Aptivi Newsroom.

This technical preview release showcases how recent improvements to Nitrocid, along with new features, will begin to take shape in this version of Nitrocid, with some of those improvements made for the technical preview already being backported to 0.2.0 and 0.1.0 for smooth transition. This will form a building block for the next development stage.

The next stage will involve many additions, bug fixes, and stability improvements, which will be done as the development goes on. The final release of the upcoming Nitrocid version will be done in the fourth quarter of this year.
