Today is Christmas Cake day! Back to the fruit cake from Nigella Christmas this year. Minor panic when I realised the tin was too small, but fortunately it hadn’t gone in the oven yet! Crisis averted! Into the oven for 2 hours, then four weeks of feeding with brandy before decorating. #ChristmasCake #Nigella

Nigella's new colours.
This one was not a colour separation experiment, just a straight-forward re-colour, but I like it. I call that pattern "soft play area camo"

This was an exercise in creating a background on which to print an image.
I put the paper on the floor, and dripped chemicals on it until I was happy.
Once it was dry, I made an image of some Nigella (Love-in-a-mist) on it.
I do love the creative flexibility that using raw chemicals gives you in printing cyanotypes.

Enjoyed hearing #Nigella #Lawson talk this weekend (I don’t even cook!). Especially liked how she addressed clickbait recipe pitches: “‘You've been cooking scrambled eggs all wrong!’ How could that be true? If you cook them the way you like, that’s right.” I’m paraphrasing but pretty close to her sensible & appreciated take. She was also big on people experimenting and changing recipes rather than feeling rigidly locked to them. #cook #cooking #recipes
