Warum gibt es eigentlich keine schöne Ausgabe von #Neuromancer? Geschweige denn eine der Trilogie? Offenbar gibt es sowas auf Französisch und afaik Portugiesisch, aber nicht auf Deutsch… oder übersehe ich etwas offensichtliches?

Re-reading "Neuromancer" by William Gibson yet again. I read this in the late 1980s shortly after it came out and it significantly motivated my career in computer networks.
I highly recommend reading the actual text before the new apple series comes out! The original is always the best.
It's interesting now to note the things Gibson didn't foresee, like cell phones. Phone booths still exist in this future!
I also just stumbled on the art of Nathan J. Anderson. He illustrated many of the characters and items in the Neuromancer, and they are an interesting visualization of the book: https://www.nathanandersonart.com/neuromancer

I'm hyped about the new #Neuromancer tv series! So much #cyberpunk lately indeed. (including new #GhostInTheShell anime series!) It makes me want to watch and read more of the genre, including the cool related documentaries. I wonder how cyberpunk's speculative future or reality will evolve now, adapting to present moment. I'm also so looking forward to returning to the cyberpunk and #sciencefiction theory books! (like "Science fiction and philosophy")

CW: Neuromancer, the new teaser, spoilers
So, Neuromancer. The Sprawl trilogy is important to me—I read it as a teenager, which means I'm not objective.
I'm probably not putting an effort to watching it. (Not having Apple TV helps.) It seems to me Case is just... wrong. Too sure of himself: in the book he was about to get killed while hustling, not able to jack in, and he never denies this. He seemed to be in way over his head.
The teaser makes him too... good.

We are in the age of AI after all, seems like the perfect time to revisit a classic story about AI and technology. I’m really curious how they’ll manage to stay true to the book’s feel, but I must say that so far, their casting really matches what I remember from Case, Molly, and Armitage! I think I see Riviera for a couple of seconds but I’m not sure who that is; I’m really curious who will be the crazy person they’ll pick for the role 🙂
I’m really looking forward to it!
It helps that I’ve been happy with most Apple TV productions in the past few years, so maybe they can pull this off! They have done well with Sci-Fi especially, so I think I can be optimistic.

"Neuromancer" will be ten episodes and is set to premiere on January 22, 2027 on Apple TV.
Hopefully this adaptation stays true to what William Gibson put on paper back in 1984.
