  3. How many people were naturalized in Taiwan in 2025?

A total of 1,875 foreign nationals became Taiwanese citizens. Vietnam ranked first with 1,100 cases, followed by the Philippines (253) and Indonesia (170).

Marriage-based naturalization remains the main pathway, while voluntary naturalization and high-talent programs make up only a small share.

  4. There's nothing more un-American than a lying, criminal, felon POTUS denying immigrants who have followed the process, their oath of citizenship. Next time some GOP/MAGA scumbag says anything about process, call them a LIAR TO THEIR FACE.

  6. …Because the govt must go through a challenging court process, #denaturalization cases have been rare.… #SCOTUS “has repeatedly stated that #citizenship & #naturalization are too precious & fundamental to our #democracy for the government to take it away on their whim. Instead of wasting resources digging through Americans’ files, USCIS should do its job of processing applications, as Congress mandated,” said Amanda Baran, a fmr snr #USCIS ofcl in the Biden admin.

  7. Dozens denied oath of allegiance at Indianapolis naturalization ceremony

    usatoday.com/story/news/nation

    Ryan Murphy
    from Indianapolis Star
    Dec. 10, 2025, 6:20 a.m. ET

As people made their way into the Indianapolis Union Station for a naturalization ceremony, federal officials stopped certain applicants and told them that they wouldn't be leaving the building with #US citizenship.

The #immigrants — who had already passed every step in the long #naturalization process — needed only to take the oath of allegiance Dec. 9, 2025, to become citizens. A federal directive handed down on Dec. 2, however, made that impossible for more than one third of people signed up for the Indianapolis ceremony.

Zhibo Zhao, a US Citizenship and Immigration Services official present at the event, said oaths of allegiance for 38 of the 100 participants were "canceled."

  13. As a person who got naturalized, I don't necessarily feel i have the right to tell other immigrants who came here illegally that they should be deported, because I know how long it takes to go through the process. It can take up to 10 years to get a greencard, and once you have a greencard, it takes even longer, and $710, which a whole lot of people don't have because they work jobs that pay them unsatisfactory wages, to go through the application for naturalization. In saying this, if you're going to live in this country, you should know 3 things.
1, you should know English. English is the primary language spoken by a majority of Americans, everyone will expect you to know a bit of English, because it is absolutely important that you know and speak it well, and here's the thing, if you don't, I'm sorry to say, but many people will not respect you as much if you don't, and some will be outright rude about it. Fortunately for me, I learned it as a kid, and so its second nature to me in fact, I know of no time where I didn't know English.
    2. You should know your rights and responsibilities. Yelling out here for the people in the back. Not just your rights, but your responsibilities. Knowing the rights that come in the constitution, your state, local, and federal rights and how and when to use them. You should also know your responsibilities which are to be of good character, yes, this matters to those who are applying for citizenship, and being a lawful resident. These 2 things *will* get you to the greatness that is citizenship.
    3. You must know, when you're going to apply for citizenship, I don't care if you've taken civics classes for years, the exact answers to the questions on the civics test. If you don't, you *will* get them wrong, and you only get 2 tries at the test before your application is automatically denied and you have to pay another $710 fee, they made it extremely clear to me when I asked them after passing the test with flying colors.

I'm going to be honest, it takes work to become a citizen, it takes waiting, it takes time, it takes signing forms and dealing with government officials, and all the while, you hear of people being deported and you think, "that could have been me."
If you're going to come to this country, do it legally, and do it right, because if you don't, you will not be able to stay here for long, and Trump doesn't care in the slightest about your rights, about your family's rights, about how long you've lived here, all that matters to him is if you are documented, and if you're not, good luck, he doesn't care if your country is going through a civil war, too bad, not documented, being deported regardless, so fellow immigrants, do it right.

Human protection - yes, that costs money ... like any other change or new acquisition ... but human protection through climate change should be worth it to everyone

  16. …Lubet, who has written extensively about #denaturalization, also raised concerns about the potential impact on #families — particularly #children whose #citizenship was derived through a parent whose #naturalization was later revoked.

"What struck me is the ripple effect that this would have on children who were naturalized through their parents," he said. " People who thought they were safely American & had done nothing wrong can suddenly be at risk of losing citizenship."

  17. Doesn't affect me personally, since I don't like the place enough to want to spend even the five years previously required, let alone *ten*. But I've seen this "pull the rug out from people midstream" tactic *a lot* from EU countries lately, and it's just asinine.
