As Vietnam successfully attracted almost sixteen million foreign tourists during the first eight months of this year, Russia and the Philippines have emerged as the fast-growing tourist markets at 166% and 58% respectively, according to a VnExpress news report.

Tourist arrivals from Russia and the Philippines surged 166% and 58%, respectively, in the first eight months, as Vietnam recorded nearly 16 million international visitors, up more than 14% year-on-year.

The rise in Russian tourists has made Russia the largest European market and the third largest source of international arrivals to Vietnam this year, with around 1 million visitors, only after mainland China (3.5 million) and South Korea (2.8 million).

Nguyen Tien Dat, CEO of AZA Travel, said: “Russian tourists enjoy swimming, sunbathing, eating seafood, and relaxing at resorts. Vietnam fully meets these needs, so it is understandable why they are visiting in large numbers,” Dat says.

Kristina Zagumennaya, director of a Russian travel agency, told the Russian news agency Sputnik in early August that Russian tourist flows are shifting between markets. While Turkey remains the top choice, Vietnam and China have recorded outstanding growth.

“Vietnam stands out as a popular choice this tourist season,” Zagumennaya said, noting that multiple charter flights are operating to destinations across the country to meet demand for both beach holidays and cultural tourism.

In addition to charter flights, Vietnam Airlines increased the frequency of its direct Hanoi-Moscow route from three to four flights per week starting in July.

Ranking behind Russia, the Philippines also showed notable growth, despite not being a prominent source market for Vietnamese tourism prior to 2025.

Filipino visitors have risen to nearly 470,000 this year, among the 10 largest group of foreign visitors to Vietnam.

#2 NiGHTS into Dreams…revisited – Way back in 1996, Sega released NiGHTS into Dreams… which was a very ambitious Sega Saturn video game made by the same key creators behind the popular Sonic games on Sega Genesis. Back in the old days, Sega was in a bind as it faced tough competition from Nintendo and Sony. That said, the company really had to make an exclusive game that is of very high quality, fun-filled gameplay and ambitious creative designs. #3 Ashleigh Burton reacts to The Animatrix – When it comes to entertainment in the year of 2003, The Matrix entertainment franchise really left its mark with the two hyped sequels The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions but also with the video game Enter The Matrix and the animated anthology The Animatrix. Released between the two live-action movies, The Animatrix featured several animated short stories of the Matrix universe done by different creators and each had different styles of art and visual concepts. The Animatrix also was designed to expand and explain the lore that delighted the fans while helping newcomers get oriented efficiently. #4 Japan opposes Islamic immigration – Let us be very clear here. Massive Islamic immigration is causing a lot of trouble in countries that accepted it. In Japan there is an obvious rise of criminal acts, public nuisance and other forms of problems caused by Islamist foreigners there. There were already rape acts committed by Pakistani men, a dumping of garbage committed by a man from Turkey and more. It is also obvious that the Muslim foreigners in Japan have no respect for Japanese culture, rules and social norms. #5 You, Me and the Movies react to Alligator (1980) – As a very young boy, I saw the 1980 film Alligator on a rented Betamax tape. I saw it alone during my first viewing, and later got a few friends to watch it with me on my second viewing. Alligator was one of those monster movies (AKA creature features) inspired by Steven Spielberg’s Jaws as several movie producers hoped to cash-in on the 1975 film’s popularity and the box office trends of the time. #5 When Hollywood Released Two Similar Movies In 1998 – Way back in 1998, moviegoers worldwide saw two movies from Hollywood that had similar concepts about the world getting hit by something from deep space. The movies were Deep Impact and Armageddon, and they were released in the same summer box office season in America. Deep Impact was more dramatic and tried hard to be believable while Armageddon was highly exaggerated and had Michael Bay’s flair all over it. The two films were released at a time when disaster movies had a resurgence and they used computer-generated images to make realize their respective visual concepts. #6 You, Me And The Movies React To Ghost In The Shell (1995) – There are many reasons why the 1995 anime feature film Ghost in the Shell is very significant. The adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s literary Ghost in the Shell was made with very high production values under the direction of Mamoru Oshii, the story had many futuristic concepts that became very relevant today, and it was very influential for many Hollywood filmmakers. #7 Casablanca Reaction Video Of EOM Reacts – There is nothing like watching a classic, black-and-white movie like Casablanca. Set in French Morocco, the story follows many characters dealing with the uncertainty of war and it is inside the nightclub and gambling den of American expatriate Rick Blaine where a lot of developments happened. The 1942 movie is memorable with its top-notch stars (Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman are phenomenal), the dramatic plot, the immersive settings and many iconic lines and moments. #10 Atari Jaguar CD Revisited – While I played a lot of games of Atari (both on Atari 2600 console and arcade games) in my life, I never owned an Atari Jaguar nor its CD-ROM add-on device. Indeed, there was a time in the 1990s when Atari got back in console gaming starting with the Jaguar console that operated with games in cartridge format. Back then, I was completely unaware about the controversy regarding past Lone Ranger actor Clayton Moore who was legally barred from appearing in public wearing the trademark black mask. #9 The Unification Church Exposed – When former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated in 2022, the killer Tetsuya Yamagami committed the act not because of politics but because of the perceived connections the politician had with the controversial Unification Church which he blames for financial ruining his family and his own life. #5 Sega’s F355 Challenge Revisited – During a visit to Gameworx inside Festival Mall in 1999, I saw the arcade game F355 Challenge from Sega. After marveling at its graphics during the first several minutes, I bought arcade tokens to play it. To my surprise, F355 Challenge was a racing simulation as it was designed with in-depth driving realism in mind. Yu Suzuki (Virtua Fighter) was the man who produced and directed the game, and in my opinion F355 Challenge has to be played in its original arcade form while the Sega Dreamcast port is the alternative. #1 Street Fighter III: New Generation Revisited – Way back in 1994, I had a blast of fun playing Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) plus other Street Fighter II games in the arcades. Naturally, I had a personal anticipation for Street Fighter III. However, Capcom released Street Fighter Alpha (Street Fighter Zero) and follow-up games over the next few years. In the 1st quarter of 1997, I saw Street Fighter III: New Generation in the local arcade and quickly inserted tokens to play it. I was very impressed with its super-smooth animation and enjoyed it. Still, something about the game felt hollow and weird as well which is related to the fact that Ryu and Ken were the only established Street Fighter characters who returned. #7 Ashleigh Burton’s Reaction To Witness – The 1980s will always be a memorable decade of Harrison Ford’s cinematic performances. During that decade, he appeared in two Star Wars movies and he was the center of attraction in the original Indiana Jones trilogy. Along the way, he appeared in the 1985 crime thriller film Witness in which he played a police detective protecting an Amish woman and her son. #4 Ashleigh Burton Reacts To The Mask – Were you old enough to have seen The Mask (starring Jim Carrey) in the movie theater when it was released in 1994? I saw it in the cinema with my friends and it turned out to be very surprisingly entertaining. Carrey’s very comedic performance really brought the character to life complete with a nice variety of computer-generated effects that added a lot of punch to entertain viewers. As the movie (loosely based on a comic book series of the early 1990s) is more than thirty years old now, one has to wonder if it still has what it takes to entertain viewers who were born during or after its theatrical run. #5 You, Me And the Movies Reacts To King Kong (1976) – You might have heard the news that the 1976 King Kong movie (starring Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange) is coming out on 4K Blu-ray format this June. I first saw that movie on local TV in the early 1980s and saw it again on cable TV a long time later. As it was a remake of the 1933 classic film, King Kong’s story was relevant to those who experienced the oil crisis of the 1970s. #6 John Byrne’s The Man Of Steel Revisited – What is there to say about John Byrne’s reboot of Superman in the 1986 limited series The Man of Steel? A lot! Byrne, who made a lot of great works with Marvel Comics’ X-Men and Fantastic Four some years prior, was hired by DC Comics to reboot Superman for the post-Crisis age and he was granted creative freedom to not only modernize the American icon but also make him relevant and essential. Can you just imagine experiencing the tremendous pressure of the task if you were Byrne himself? #2 Batman versus Predator Revisited – Back in the early 1990s, I saw issues of the huge crossover mini-series Batman versus Predator displayed on shelves on local comic book stores, and each one cost a lot of money! Looking back at the crossover, there definitely is a lot of things about it that justify the high cover price. Some comic book enthusiasts say that Batman versus Predator is the best crossover comic book story to feature the Predator while there are others who said that Batman is the perfect superhero to be matched against the sci-fi movie icon. #3 Project Sylpheed Examined – First released in Japan in 2006, Project Sylpheed was a science fiction shooter game that was released by Square Enix exclusively on the Xbox 360 console. I always wanted to play that game’s English version (released in 2007) but I never had the opportunity to buy it. Project Sylpheed was the third game of its franchise and it was the successor to the original Silpheed game of the 1980s. Believe it or not, the game still looks great by today’s standards and the vibrant colors and stylish visual elements made it stand out nicely among 3D shooters. #4 Ranting For Vengeance Slams Jon Bernthal’s Punisher And The Woke Mob – When I first think about the Punisher who first appeared in comics long ago, I think of a very hard-edged vigilante who wages a dangerous war against criminals on his own terms. In the 21st century, we now have a live-action Punisher who drifted away from his comic book legacy and woke Disney now fully dictates Marvel Comics. Along the way, the current Punisher actor Jon Bernthal is woke and supports the LGBTQ community and its agenda. #1 Resident Evil: Extinction Reaction/Review Videos – I saw Resident Evil: Extinction in the local cinema in 2007. By the time the movie ended, it was clear to me that the Resident Evil live-action movie series was all about showcasing Milla Jovovich as the action star and the characters from the games were just tokens to add RE relevance (Ali Larter as Claire Redfield in the 2007 film) since the films were not serious adaptations of the video games’ stories. RE: Extinction’s most notable attraction is its Mad Max-inspired wasteland setting and there were some moviegoers who enjoy the movie as a thrill ride. #2 Resident Evil: Code Veronica Retrospective – I can hardly believe it has been more over 25 years since Resident Evil: Code Veronica was first released on the Sega Dreamcast. At the time of its release, it was clearly the next-generation Resident Evil experience and the first major game (or mainline game) of its series to have fully polygonal environments for players to explore. Come to think of it, RE: Code Veronica was the result of Capcom’s failed plan to port Resident Evil 2 to the Sega Saturn which led to developing a new project mainly for the Dreamcast. If you are nostalgic about RE: Code Veronica or if are a newcomer who wants to discover it, watch this amusing retrospective video.

#3 Horror Video Games Only Playable On The Dreamcast – More on the fun but failed Sega Dreamcast console, there were some horror-themed adventure games in its software lineup that had unique concepts and gameplay features. While Resident Evil: Code Veronica was ported by Capcom to other gaming platform, there were these other horror games remained on the Dreamcast. #4 Ranting For Vengeance Slams Upcoming Supergirl – Supergirl, the upcoming movie of James Gunn’s DCU, was slammed by Ranting for Vengeance. There was a new trailer of the movie released and it did not captivate me nor interest me. It did not help that the Supergirl actress Milly Alcock actually slammed the fans as there was backlash against the said new trailer. Going back to the new Supergirl trailer, Ranting for Vengeance explains that the modern cinematic versions of the title character and Lobo do not resemble their literary counterparts. #5 The Japanese Fisherman’s Cuisine – How fresh and tasty do you like your meal to be? In Japan, there is a place that serves meals to customers using the cuisine of local fishermen. #5 Ashleigh Burton Reacts To Moulin Rouge! – Around twenty-five years ago, the cinematic musical Moulin Rouge! was released in cinemas and it dazzled many moviegoers as well as music enthusiasts. Stars Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor proved to be very good singers and their acting abilities were really artistic. As of this writing, there are just not enough reaction videos of Moulin Rouge! on YouTube which is surprising considering its huge significance as a modern cinematic musical. Recently, Ashleigh Burton posted her own reaction video of the 2001 film and it is a must-see.

#6 Circus Circus’ 2-Floor Suite – After watching several YouTube videos about Circus Circus Hotel and Casino out of nostalgia about Las Vegas, I found this video about the 2-storey suite and watched it entirely. When I was very young, me and my relatives stayed in a nice suite at the same hotel but this 2-storey suite looks grander, more spacious and more ideal for families or a group of people to stay in. It was only by watching the video that I learned about its existence for the first time. I urge you all to watch it and pay attention to the details.

#7 Nintendo 64 In 1995 – When Nintendo first announced its “64-bit” successor to their best-selling Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), there was huge anticipation for it by gamers and the media. As time went on, the pre-release hype intensified and there were journalists from the West who even went to Japan to get the latest updates from Nintendo itself. Un nouveau regard sur la franchise Predator

Les Comanches faisaient partie des tribus guerrières les plus reconnues, leur habileté à cheval n’avait pas d’égale. Pas de chevaux dans ce film, on se concentre, franchise oblige, sur l’opposition entre guerriers terrestres et extraterrestres. Simpliste mais efficace, ce film est le cinquième opus d’une franchise qu’on peut adorer ou détester. On ne peut pas, par contre, nier la qualité de certains des films. Le premier « Predator » est une référence du film d’action, selon moi, pour plusieurs raisons, la première étant son réalisateur John McTiernan, qu’on retrouvera des années plus tard pour ce qui est, pour moi, la meilleure scène d’ouverture de film de tous les temps dans « Une journée en enfer » (Die Hard with a Vengeance), une masterclass inégalée.

Une réalisation professionnelle et accessible

Le réalisateur de ce film, sans lui faire offense, ne peut pas être comparé à son aîné cité précédemment ; il n’en demeure pas moins que le travail réalisé pour Prey est très professionnel et artistiquement cohérent. Le spectateur n’ayant aucune connaissance de l’univers dont il est question pourra apprécier le film autant que le fan invétéré, c’est à souligner, car certaines franchises ne se donnent pas la peine, ou maladroitement, de traiter les films d’une franchise en les rendant accessibles au plus grand nombre. Le récit est donc tout à fait abordable pour quiconque.

L’importance de l’expérience visuelle et sonore

Les images qui s’offrent à nous sont toutes soignées et servent le propos et surtout le contexte du film et des personnages. La construction globale du récit et la mise en images se dispensent de dialogues longs et inutiles ; les images se suffisent à elles-mêmes. L’ambiance sonore est elle aussi très réussie et contribue pleinement au visionnage et à l’immersion. Il ne s’agit pas là d’un film à voir en sourdine, l’appréciation ne peut se faire qu’à haut volume, car l’environnement sonore est une partie prépondérante dans l’appréciation du spectacle qui nous est proposé.

Quelques regrets mineurs pour un film réussi

Le seul regret qu’on peut avoir est qu’à certains moments, peu, les effets spéciaux ne sont pas vraiment à la hauteur et c’est dommage, mais pas rébarbatif. Cela ne gâche en rien la qualité générale du film, mais on aurait apprécié ne pas avoir ce petit défaut dans ce qui s’avère être une réussite qualitative dans la saga Predator.

Conditions optimales de visionnage

Il n’en reste pas moins que notre attention est captive du début à la fin. Il faut, pour le comprendre, avoir visionné ce film comme dans une salle de cinéma avec le moins de lumières parasites possible et dans un silence de cathédrale, car l’ambiance sonore est indispensable à l’appréciation et à l’immersion.

Une expérience cinématographique à privilégier

Vous l’aurez compris, ce film est à voir dans l’obscurité et avec un volume conséquent. Toute autre condition de visionnage ne rendrait pas honneur et ne lui conviendrait pas, ce serait comme boire du Champagne chaud, on peut, mais on y perd. Rendez-vous service et mettez en place les conditions pour apprécier un film qui s’inscrit dignement dans une saga qui aurait pu se passer de certains films précédents.
