Another #MuseumsAssociation plug today: the MA has launched a #freelancer hub!
It contains some brilliant resources on working with #freelancers, managing your well-being when you work for yourself, and how to get started with #freelancing.
It looks great, and I don't just say that because I'm in the Q&A section (honest!).

Choo choo! 🚄 I'm on my way to the #MuseumsAssociation conference in #Leeds today.
The theme of the conference is 'The Joy of Museums' which I think is just lovely. Don't we all need a little more joy in our lives?
If anyone else is going, give me a shout. I'd love to say hi in person!

On a brighter note, I get to attend the #MuseumsAssociation conference in Leeds this November for free thanks to the incredible inclusive places scheme they run. So chuffed! They're a really lovely organisation.

I couldn't make it to Cardiff for today's #MuseumsAssociation meetup in Wales but I've got a great excuse: it's Waffle. He needed me.
So Waffle and I are attending #MAWales online instead. He's already been on camera once!

📰 Hampshire Cultural Trust ‘gamifies’ collections auditing
I actually think this is a genius move. Not everything should be a competition or a game, true, but the kind of work these volunteers are doing is pretty thankless at the best of times. Incentives are a nice thing and I just thought this was really refreshing!
Also I love the team names Data Hunters and Story Gatherers SO much.

Our favourite #conservation agony aunt Jane Henderson has her very own episode on the #MuseumsAssociation #podcast Radical Museums: Sharon and Jane discuss the power of museums and their collections, the joys of #Cardiff, approaches to culture in #Wales, tackling racism in Wales, and the challenges of working in #museums today.

Today I'm living that #DigitalNomad life at my parents' dining room table. I'm attending the #MuseumsAssociation annual conference for two days from Sweden - #FreelanceLife at its best, right?

I love this piece in the #MuseumsJournal so much:
📰 Working life | ‘Fibromyalgia is as much a part of me as my red hair and love of leopard print’
Yas! 🙌 Stacey Smith, working at London’s National Gallery, talks about being a #disabled #MuseumWorker with #fibromyalgia -- it's a lovely read.
Also how AMAZINGLY powerful is that portrait? I love it.

📰 York Castle Museum partially closed after #RAAC discovery
Surprised we haven't seen more headlines like these: #museums all over the country must be built out of the reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) they've discovered propping up the gallery ceilings in #York.
The concrete has a life-span of 30 years and we've been cheerily putting it in just about everything between the 1950s until the mid-90s. :yikes:

Today I'm attending the #MuseumsAssociation one day conference on the #FutureOfDisposal, which is a hot topic for #museums everywhere.
I'm very pro-rationalisation, which often horrifies fellow #conservators, but we just can't keep everything.
I'd be curious to hear what my fellow GLAM folks on here think of pruning #collections - yay or nay?
Personally I think it's as much a part of good #CollectionsManagement as acquiring new objects and looking after them while they're in your care.

CW: Coronation of King Charles III
I see the #MuseumsAssociation is bringing some mild spice (maybe paprika) to the #Coronation weekend via its newsletter.
