Watched the new Muppet Show with the little one. All good until Rizzo showed up and started singing The Weeknd under glorious bisexual lighting and I started dancing and singing. I managed to salvage the experience but that was not a crowd pleaser. #MuppetShow #parenting

Well the new #MuppetShow is as good as everyone said. I don’t get the complaints about Kermit’s voice though. Maybe if you haven’t seen any of the Muppets since the original you’d notice the difference, but he’s got basically the same voice he’s had for the last 35 years.

As a big fan of the #Muppets, I absolutely loved the new special with Sabrina Carpenter. To me, it felt like they captured the vibe of the original Muppet Show in every way that matters.
A nice mix of sketches, musical numbers, and backstage shenanigans. Jokes for the adults watching too. In my opinion, they absolutely nailed it. I really hope that it does well enough to convince Disney to create a full series. I need more episodes!

The new #MuppetShow one-off hits all the right notes, and is absolutely the classic Muppet Show I remember. Muppets being silly, corny jokes, all the characters doing their thing, bright and shiny, goofy for kids, and just a smattering of toeing-the-line adult humor for adults to laugh at that kids won’t catch. I really hope it gets enough views for them to formally bring it back for a full revival.
Most impressive was that they even managed to bring back the slightly confusing experience of having a guest star that I didn’t know anything about (though now, instead of it being because I was too young to really know who the guests were, it’s because I’m now a 50-something who’s slightly out of touch with pop culture).

Much like with X-Men '97, keeping the intro for the new Muppet Show special nearly identical to the one from the original 70s series was absolutely the right choice.

The new Muppet Show special was a delight. Amazing how much of the energy of the original show it channelled. Sabrina Carpenter was a great choice as a first(?) guest, her scenes with Miss Piggy were hilarious. Wish it was a bit longer, but crossing fingers, toes, and paws there's more like this to come.

Im Jahr 2004 kaufte Disney die Rechte an den Muppets von der Jim Henson Company (der Deal beinhaltete übrigens nicht die Sesamstraße). Danach hatte das Maus-Haus immer wieder mal versucht, an die alten, erfolgreichen Zeiten der MUPPET SHOW (1976 – 1981) anzuknüpfen.
