Lesson learned, don't let yourself get too confident riding. I went down this morning. I was going over some railroad tracks that are kinda rough and on a diagonal to the street, and the front wheel followed the groove. Happened too fast to react.
Luckily I wasn't going fast, only about 30mph. And I was geared up like always. I'm sore but not injured. My helmet clearly shows that without it my head would have taken a good bounce off the pavement.
The bike has minor damage. I broke the clutch perch and bent the turn signals on that side, plus the crash bar and my saddle bags got pretty scuffed up. Rolled it into a parking lot and got a ride home. Luckily I happen to have a clutch perch from an adventure last spring. I had snapped the clutch cable, and clamped the end of it into the lever using voice grips. Unfortunately that damaged the lever, so I bought a universal fit replacement at the dealership where I linked the bike to in order to get a new clutch cable. I thought I had thrown it out, but luckily it was still sitting there in my toolbox. So later today after my wife comes home we'll go back and pick the bike up.
I was going to do a quick overnight into West Virginia on Monday and visit Blackwater Falls. Now I'm not so sure. I think it depends on how I'm feeling over the next couple days. Right now my left leg is throbbing and I just feel like laying down.

Honestly made my day seeing another #Motorcyclist out.
Just remember to wear proper gear if you're heading out. Still rather poor road conditions in parts of Europe. We have a lot of strong winds as well here in Sweden.

I spent much of my free time in the late '80s and '90s on various BMW motorcycles, bopping around and camping in the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, etc..

Oil and filter changed, trans and rear drive fluid levels checked, took her out for a run. Even enjoyed myself -- shit, I'd thought I'd forgotten how. Perhaps this could help reduce my anxiety. Gonna have to do that some more.

First night of my Southern #MotoCamping trip. Camped right on the shore of the Kanawa River just outside of Point Pleasant, WV. Tomorrow morning after breaking camp I'll head into town to visit the #mothman statue and museum, then on to the Red River Gorge.

Getting packed for a week long motorcycle camping trip. I leave tomorrow. This is a much much needed break.
First night I'll be camping in Point Pleasant, WV and visiting the Mothman museum. After that, heading over to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky, then looping down through Tennessee, North Carolina and back into West Virginia where I'm planning to spend a couple of days exploring sites like Audra State Park and Blackwater Falls. I'll be posting photos from the trip here. Also going to be trying out my new action camera to get some POV video.

I have a nine day long break coming up at the end of April / bringing of May. Going to take the motorcycle out on a 1500 mile loop through Appalachia, calling asking the way and hoping to hit some of the famous mountain roads in Tennessee and North Carolina. Getting excited planning this trip. Tentative itinerary:
Day 1: leave from Northeast Ohio, make camp in Point Pleasant, WV where I'll visit the Mothman museum.
Day 2: Point Pleasant to a campground on the banks of the Red River in the Red River Gorge area. Ride through Nada tunnel and tour the gorge.
Day 3: across Kentucky and ride the Kentucky Rattlesnake (KY-192) to the KY/TN border.
Day 4: head south and catch the Cherohala Skyway into Robbinsville, NC. Possibly run the Tail of the Dragon, depending on arrival time.
Day 5: ride the Tail if I didn't get to the previous day. Head east, catch pay off the Blue Ridge Parkway until exciting and riding the Devil's Whip (NC 80).
Day 6: slowly explore the Blue Ridge Parkway, making camp somewhere near the North Carolina / Virginia border.
Day 7: the Virginia leg of the BRP.
Day 8: BRP to Blackwater Falls, WV. Visit several waterfalls in the area for photos and hiking.
Day 9: US 250 through Southern Ohio to New Philadelphia and then home.
This will be the longest loop I've done on the bike and a great chance to test all the tweaks I've made to the camping setup, as I'll be making and breaking camp every day. Super excited to get out there and explore again. Going to do my best to ignore politics and current events that entire nine days and just recharge.

De-li-cious ride today with some in-city stuff and then a nice dike ride alongside the river. No things of concern surfaced during those two hours.We are so back! In 3 weeks I'll know if I'm worthy 🥰🏍️

Had a late lesson today, 6pm-7:40pm. Though I was well-rested and the conditions were OK (it was dark, 3 °C and slightly rainy, visibility was good) I wasn't in my element.
I think I'm not comfortable in the dark and it messes with my basics, like shoulder checks and keeping/creating distance. I really messed up in those departments a few times today.
Learning's not a linear process. Still: this is annoying.

I was out on two pretty wheels tonight for two hours from 4:30pm.
Fairly unfriendly conditions! 0 °C + fog + dark, about 500m of sight. Quite the eye-opener what such humid coldness does to focus, even with proper winter gear.
Now I know better how that affects me and what I need to pay extra attention to if I end up in those conditions again.Not the easiest ride but overall I did okay and learned things :)
