The Humppaveikot version of "She Loves You" reminded me of another version of the tune. After she had left Motown in 1964, Mary Wells recorded an album of Beatles covers, "Love Songs to the Beatles", which surprisingly had big-band style arrangements for the songs:

Heard this one on the radio last night - one of the more esoteric Finnish-language Beatles covers:
Humppa-Veikot: Hän sinun on (1965)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUJiTvNu-B4The group Humppaveikot was formed in 1958, first as a studio orchestra for a popular radio show. Most of the musicians were veterans, who had started their careers in the 1930s, playing in the legendary Dallapé orchestra. The vocalist Teijo Joutsela had been a member of a well-known singing group, Kipparikvartetti.
For some reason, their record company, Scandia, decided that they should record Finnish-language versions of two recent Lennon/McCartney compositions:

Happy Monday y'all !
For #MondayCovers I'd like to honor the fact that there's water falling out of the sky after long weeks of relentless drought,

#MenAndVolts - “Abba Zabba” (1979)
There was an uber-serious question heard around ex-punk rock circles back in the day: “who was greater . . . #TheVelvetUnderground or #TheStooges?” Now I'm guessing if Men & Volts heard this, they would’ve responded by gleefully shouting “#CaptainBeefheart!” Indeed M&S once worked up an entire set of Beefheart covers, even playing them live to Boston’s befuddled underground music types a few times in 1979. If you’re a lifelong fan of the Magic Band you probably already know about this lo-fi archival wonder. But everyone else? Get your priorities straight and start digging this as much as I do.

Here's one for the middle of summer (northern hemisphere).
The 1958 Eddie Cochran song "Summertime Blues" has been covered by many groups, one of the most popular probably being the Blue Cheer version.
Here's a French cover from 1975. The title translates as "Last Summer's Girl".
Johnny Hallyday – La fille de l'été dernier

There are numerous different recordings of "Cadillac", and for quite a few years, the song was part of the standard repertoire of beat groups in several European countries.
One of the more memorable later recordings was done by the Clash, whose 1979 version was clearly based on the Vince Taylor original.

The Renegades' version of "Cadillac" was a hit in Finland, but in Sweden their record was covered by a local group, the Hep Stars, whose version made it to #1 on the Swedish charts:

While the Renegades' version credited the group members as the writers of the song, it was actually an old British rock & roll classic, originally recorded by Vince Taylor five years earlier:

While the Beatles never visited Finland, another British group, the Renegades, came over for a tour in October 1964, and with their energetic live show, soon became hugely popular among the Finnish teenagers.
Their biggest hit was a song called "Cadillac", which made it to #2 on the Finnish charts when it was released in 1964. Here's a live performance captured during the peak of their popularity:
The Renegades: Cadillac (live version, Turku, Finland, 1965)

If they have you close out the show, you must be something special. Especially if the song isn't yours. I enjoy Mary's collaboration with U2, but I enjoy her solo more.
