  1. Turns out Priest is not my type of author after all. Even though I dropped Guardian (Zhen Hun) novel about halfway through, I still wanted to give her writing another chance.

Silent Reading (Mo Du; 默读) is better, it got me hooked much easier. I love that she doesn't focus on romance as such, her stories have plot and substance beyond "will they won't they" trope. That's good. Her characters were able to pique my interest quite easily, interesting dynamic and circumstances of their meeting, impressive power balance. I genuinely had high hopes... but as I kept reading I realized that it's NOT the type of storytelling I enjoy. Simple as that. Too meticulous, too detailed for the sole purpose of creating certain atmosphere but at the same time with emotion processing it's the other way round. We have police procedural? Then you're gonna learn every excruciating bit of action and evidence. We have an emotional moment? You're gonna read between the lines. I guess it might work. But sadly it doesn't really work on me.

I'm still in the middle of the last book and tables might turn. And it's one of those cases where I hope they will but I doubt it

  2. #SilentReading Book 2 done. Sheesh, that was a gnarly tale but also gripping, sucked me right in from the start. I'm fully invested in Luo Wenzhou and Fei Du's relationship and rooting for Tao Ran to successfully court his lady. Definitely my favorite priest book.

  3. Now reading #MoDu aka #SilentReading by priest. First book done and I'm really enjoying this! I like the characters and their introductions and especially that they seem not to be as mean as priest tends to write her characters.

  4. A new building in Houston is using an innovative technology to keep cool. It’s called Modu, and it uses modular panels that can change their shape and color to regulate the temperature. This could save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from air conditioning. #Modu #CoolingTech #GreenBuilding thecooldown.com/green-tech/mod

From what I’ve seen on twt is there are some bad faith reading of the premise - some peoples genetic make up causes them to be predisposed to commit crime.

So people have gone ‘this show is abt eugenics’

Now for the bit that could be a spoiler - well at least if you’ve not bothered to read the premise info abt the series on youku

The whole point of the series is revealing to people the genes DON’T define people, they have free will
