L’immortale (Il sistema di salvataggio del peggiore dei cattivi #3) di Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
Descrizione: Un maestro caduto in disgrazia. Un discepolo divenuto un oscuro sovrano. Per Shen Qingqiu non c’è via di fuga: dopo aver sacrificato la propria libertà per salvare la sua scuola di coltivazione, si ritrova prigioniero nelle mani di Luo Binghe, il giovane che lui stesso ha allevato e che ora domina il Regno dei Demoni. Ma al di là della forza temuta da tutti, Luo Binghe nutre per lo shizun una devozione assoluta e sentimenti che ormai è stanco di nascondere. E che Shen Qingqiu non può più ignorare. Ogni incontro tra i due si trasforma così in un duello silenzioso tra inganni e rivelazioni, tra verità e menzogne, e il loro legame prende una direzione sempre più ambigua, in bilico tra diffidenza e tenerezza. Mentre segreti sepolti e trame irrisolte emergono dalle ombre del Cammino del fiero demone immortale, Shen Qingqiu capisce che il passato dell’uomo di cui porta il volto è un enigma che potrebbe travolgerlo. E che, per sopravvivere, dovrà affrontare la prova più difficile: guardare Luo Binghe per ciò che è davvero… e accettare che il loro destino non ammette più ritorno.
Arrivata praticamente alla fine della serie (il quarto volume, infatti, raccoglie racconti che integrano la vicenda principale), ho dei sentimenti contrastanti: da una parte mi sono divertita molto, sia perché Shen Qingqiu finisce per essere molto simpatico, sia perché il ribaltamento del classico romanzo erotico per uomini etero riesce bene e ne viene esposta tutta l’assurdità; dall’altra parte, questa è pur sempre una serie romance e non posso fare a meno di essere agghiacciata dal fatto che Shen Qingqiu finisca a fare coppia con Luo Binghe.
È vero che Luo Binghe ha l’ingrato compito di mostrare tutta la stupidità dell’eroe etero-basico dei romanzi erotici del tipo “stallone da monta” e che Mo Xiang Tong Xiu cerca di ammorbidire questo fatto mostrando anche la sua versione gentile da romanzo erotico per donne, ma a me metteva ansia ogni volta che entrava in scena, come se fosse il serial killer e non l’interesse amoroso del protagonista: da questo punto di vista le cose non sono migliorare affatto rispetto al secondo volume.
Anzi, a questo va aggiunto l’ultimo capitolo, che è stato piuttosto difficile da leggere: anche qui, razionalmente mi è chiara la volontà dell’autrice di ribaltare i cliché del genere per esporli al ridicolo, ma quella scena per me è risultata più fonte di disagio che di divertimento. Si può certamente spezzare una lancia a favore di Mo Xiang Tong Xiu perché questo è il suo primo lavoro, ma non è da qui che vi consiglierei di fare la sua conoscenza.
Parimenti, se avete amato Il gran maestro della scuola demoniaca e/o La benedizione dell’ufficiale divino, magari vi farà piacere leggere in nuce i temi e le dinamiche che l’autrice svilupperà meglio in seguito. Si può dire che Mo Xiang Tong Xiu è molto brava a rimestare nel calderone dei temi e dei personaggi che le piacciono per proporli sempre in maniera diversa e accattivante. Per quanto mi riguarda, ormai leggerò anche il quarto volume, dove spero che il Luo Binghe eterobasico sia andato e perso per sempre nella sua dimensione piena di disagio e che ci sarà spazio solo per del sano divertimento.

Il demone (Il sistema di salvataggio del peggiore dei cattivi #2) di Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
Descrizione: Quando il destino devia dal suo corso, il caos prende il sopravvento. Una misteriosa epidemia devasta la città di Jinlan, disseminando morte e sofferenze inimmaginabili. Shen Qingqiu, suo malgrado protagonista di un mondo che non gli appartiene, viene trascinato in un’indagine pericolosa. Ma il morbo letale non è l’unica minaccia: il suo passato, o meglio quello dello Shen Qingqiu originale, si riaffaccia con tutta la sua forza distruttiva. Sono passati tre anni da quando Shen Qingqiu ha tradito Luo Binghe, e ne restano ancora due prima che il discepolo riemerga dall’Abisso Infinito per reclamare la sua sanguinosa vendetta. Almeno, questo è ciò che dovrebbe accadere. Luo Binghe, però, torna in anticipo, e profondamente cambiato: non è più l’innocente discepolo che Shen Qingqiu ricordava. La sua ossessione per il maestro è palpabile, inquietante, e sembra spingersi verso confini del tutto inediti. Mentre nuovi pericoli incombono e vecchi nemici tornano per regolare i conti, Shen Qingqiu si trova a fronteggiare non solo le insidie che lo circondano ma anche il peso delle sue stesse colpe. La posta in gioco è più alta che mai, e il tempo stringe: fallire significa affrontare un destino persino peggiore della morte. Sopravvivere non è mai stato così difficile.
Questo secondo volume, nonostante inizi con il nostro Shen Qingqiu che gigioneggia con il suo ventaglio e la convinzione che Luo Binghe rimarrà nell’Abisso Infernale ancora qualche anno, è molto più serio e oscuro del precedente. Già che la storia riprende dalla comparsa di un’epidemia misteriosa è subito segnale che le cose si faranno molto più nefaste; se a questo aggiungiamo che Luo Binghe si rifà vivo con un atteggiamento non proprio conciliante – e come dargli torto – non possiamo che temere per il nostro Impareggiabile Cetriolo.
L’ostilità di Luo Binghe è così smaccata che non so proprio come da qui i due riusciranno a riappacificarsi e fare coppia. È vero che questo volume è un lungo qui pro quo perché questi due non si parlano chiaramente, fraintendono e non si fidano l’uno dell’altro, con l’aggravante dell’ormonella che confonde le acque, ma Luo Binghe fa proprio paura. Nel senso che appena compare fa salire l’ansia che quando leggi non associ al futuro compagno del protagonista, ma a un serial killer che compare all’improvviso davanti alla sua prossima vittima.
Non sono sicura che questa situazione possa essere ribaltata in una bella relazione e mi dispiacerebbe molto se fosse così perché, nonostante tutto, sto continuando a divertirmi molto con i tentativi di Shen Qingqiu di raddrizzare questa storia che palesemente Aeroplano Impennato verso il Cielo continua a rendere un disastro. Anzi, si può proprio dire che al momento è l’aspetto di questa serie che mi piace di più perché Luo Binghe mi mette troppa ansia per fare il tifo per lui.
Per il resto trovo che Il sistema di salvataggio del peggiore dei cattivi abbia molte similitudini con Il gran maestro della scuola demoniaca – il suo secondo lavoro – e probabilmente anche con La benedizione dell’ufficiale divino – di cui però ho letto solo il primo volume e non posso fare paragoni. Sicuramente Mo Xiang Tong Xiu ha una bizzarra predilezione per lanciare i suoi personaggi in abissi e fosse varie e per infilarli in situazioni nelle quali il loro codice morale finirà per causare loro molto sofferenza e/o ostracismo.
Adesso non posso far altro che lanciarmi sul terzo volume per vedere come Mo Xiang Tong Xiu riuscirà – se riuscirà – a uscire brillantemente dalla situazione incasinata nella quale si è infilata. Sono molto curiosa di sapere che fine farà il nostro Shen Qingqiu dopo aver brigato in lungo e in largo per rimanere vivo nei suoi panni di stimato Maestro Immortale.
