...ending with a kinda bizarre private Karina set in a nearby condo with an even more random group. Was both very cool and not that cool, but a perfect end to an absolutely excellent weekend.

The third night was top tier and goes to show that while they rarely disappoint, MMJ is a band that can flip the switch and find a next level when they want to. Dark psychedelic energy last night with a lot of extended moments.
Extra fun being quasi-VIP for the weekend & definitely took advantage. We ended up in a random crew that led to a lot of fun, too many laughs + shenanigans...

Delayed layover thoughts on OneBigHoliday/MMJ:
Of all the getaway weekends, OBH was always the most appealing because the lineups are always on point, the band rarely disappoints, and I always thought I could hang with the MMJ crowd for a weekend without irritation. Those points definitely held true this weekend.
The location was decent. Some people seemed down on it vs an all-inclusive resort, but I thought it worked. Very chill vibe, very easy, staff was excellent.

MMJ opens with One More Saturday Night. It's on!

Last day at One Big Holiday opens with some pure southern rock. Futurebirds with Carl B sitting in for most of the set.

Another great show with sit-ins from pretty much everyone who played so far including Eggy (Steam Engine = sick), Devon Gillfilian (Only Memories Remain = sick), Karina Rykman (Run Thru/National Anthem = sick), SG Goodman (Like A Hurricane = sick ), and more.
Then close out with a headyjams "silent" set from Eggy.

Eggy (half of em, at least) sat in with MMJ. Lots of guests tonight and pretty much every sit-in has been a winner with more to come.

As far as opening the main stage for the night, you can't get much further from Karina than SG Goodman. Songwriting like if Patterson Hood was a woman from Kentucky with a superb slowburn country rock sound. Always good to see her play and her banter is the driest I've seen. Funny bit about knowing who the MMJ crazies are because they call them "Jacket." lol.

Today: first time seeing/hearing Eggy. Took a little bit, but eventually won me over with a couple choice covers appropriately taken deep. Pretty much sounded like I imagined they would, very jambandy in the strictest sense. At their worst, it's "PH lite," but a lot of fun and that was only an hour set in the afternoon on the beach, so I'll give it a pass. Would see again. (possibly later tonight, assuming I make it to the end).
