  2. Are you a foreigner in the #Philippines spending your holiday break in the country? If you're planning on watching the latest Western #movies, forget it. Every Dec 25th (+ 3–4 weeks) all theaters only have locally produced #films. It's the #MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival).

  3. December 25th is the #MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival). Be sure to watch & review the entry #TheKingdom , an alternate history #Philippines set in the present day where the archipelago was not conquered / colonized.

  4. Watched GomBurZa with Karen today! Super on a whim, nasa Megamall na ako and was telling her “oh just lmk if u wanna hang” tapos nung sinabi niya yung movie I’m just like, “g” 😂

Nice film! Grabe talaga ginawa kina GomBurZa. I think more Filipinos should watch this film. jescom.ph/gomburzafilm/

  5. As a Filipino #cinephile, Christmas is dreadful time because of the Metro Manila Film Festival. This "film festival" is as far removed from the likes of Cannes, Toronto, and Sundance as you can imagine. This is because no other films can be shown in local cinemas (save for IMAXes). Thus local studios usually use this theater monopoly to put out crap.

Local critic Phil Dy sums up the situation best in a viral Twitter thread from 2018: twitter.com/philbertdy/status/
