I read Ed Ashton's Mickey books & love them. Entertaining & smart. A bit like #Murderbot that way.
Just finished watching Bong Joon Ho's #Mickey17. Based on the first book. I had high expectations. Stupid me.
The movie butchers the books. It kills the characters, misses the point about the clones not being the same, its attempt at satire is out of place & annoying, it trivializes the creepers, has no story... and it's more than 2hrs long.
Painful.
What a total waste of time and money.

In Lubchanskys "Simplicity" treffen wir auf Waldwesen und im Museum auf kristalline Teppiche und mehrkanalige Tänze.

I’ve absolutely loved #Mickey17.
Long story short: Imagine #WeylandYutani from #Alien being controlled by a crazy #evangelical #pastor that lost his last two #elections and now he wants to #colonize another #planet.
So he can be the sole ruler. As you can get even when being a #comedy. Sometimes gives me that vibe that in a future it’ll become a reality.
Worth the watch!

#Mickey17 hat dann doch sehr viel mehr Spaß gemacht als die durchaus durchwachsenen Kritiken versprachen. Wer quirky #SciFi mag, sich auf Bong Joon Ho's (,Parasite') etwas komplexeres Storytelling sowie Robert Pattinson's (insb. Voice-)Acting einlassen kann, hat 137 unterhaltsame Minuten vor sich.
[Ich war todmüde & rechnete damit, sofort abzuschalten, saß dann aber gespannt bis zum Ende vor dem #Film]

Mickey 17 (2025)
Mickey es un tipo al que matan y clonan constantemente durante un viaje a una colonia espacial. Bong Joon Ho mete su crítica a los ricos y defensa de los currelas. Robert Pattinson hace un papelón como los diferentes clones. La historia está muy bien y el diseño sci-fi de futuro cercano mola.
Recomendada.

On a enfin vu Mickey 17, le dernier film de Bong Joon-ho.
Six ans après son excellent Parasites, le cinéaste coréen revient aux États-Unis et change totalement de genre avec de la science-fiction satirique agrémentée d’une bonne dose d’absurde. Tout ne fonctionne pas pleinement, mais j’ai trouvé l’expérience divertissante et la critique efficace.
