Anyone use hardware MFC authentication keys, and have opinions about them?

Are they a good solution?

I saw a video about YubiKey and looked it up on Wikipedia. Seems like a useful thing, but there are FOSS community concerns about it being closed-source.

The page also mentions NitroKey which appears to be a FOSS/Open Hardware alternative that supports (most of?) the same protocols.

@hambier What @grischard says. Current Brother mono lasers are the epitome of boring, which is exactly what a printer should be. And they work well with #Linux.
Supplies are cheap, with the older ones 3rd party supplies used to work reasonably well.

Had two Brother color lasers, both had issues with toner quality ruining the band and in one case the some of the drums. Also, prices are too high and 3rd party toners appear to be a really bad idea with those.
The mono ones, even in the cheap price range, rivaled the 2000s HP quality, albeit for lower throughput design.
Modern ones now do 2 CCD ADF duplex. However, depending on your ADF scan volume you might want to consider the Fujitsu FI- dedicated scanners, available in desktop and epic workgroup edition. They are better in terms of recognizing accidental multi page feed and have exchangable document rollers. Accidental #ADF multi-feed has so far been the main issue with all standard #MFC devices across manufacturers.
Brother prices on their website vs. on street price always has been two very different things.

(Farb-Multifunktionsgerät, Tintenstrahler) der zwar problemlos scannt und faxt, aber nicht mehr richtig druckt: Die schwarze Düse ist größtenteils verstopft und ich bekomme sie nicht mehr frei.
Wer also im Raum #Stuttgart einen Scanner/Fax sucht oder ein magisches Händchen für verstopfte Düsen hat kann das Gerät gerne haben - ansonsten geht's zum Wertstoffhof. #Fedigive

I needed to prototype stuff at work, decided to add a simple UI so that I can show things to colleagues without fumbling with CLI. It should’ve been easy, but~

1. It’s #MFC - an easy task becomes harder.
2. I need to integrate in into the main UI.

Mission impossible, arrrrgh

Note to self: implement actual things, then maybe think about UI, especially if the said UI will never make it to production.

Kennt sich jemand hier richtig *richtig* gut mit #Brother #MFC Geräten aus?

Ich habe hier ein aktuelles #MFCL2750DW stehen, das leider kein "Scan to Email Server" (Scans verschicken via #SMTP) kann 😡
Sondern nur "Easy Scan to Email" über eine Brother Cloud 😡😡.
Bei anderen Geräten, z.B. dem kleineren L2740 kann man diese Funktion nachinstallieren… gibt es irgendwelche Tricks, mit dem das auch beim L2750 geht?
