Why won't my plants grow? It is tilled soil, and they're next to water. No trees above. Am I missing something else?

Yay, finally back in the game. Flooded my mines twice, but I got some iron ore which I made to an iron sword.

The only weird thing, the cotton and rise seems to take forever to grow? Do they grow at all?

I only tested #mesecraft on #minetest so far and somehow... It lacks the certain something that #minecraft had.
I'm probably also having severe problems getting started, due to lack of coal and minerals... mh. And the non-permanent torches raise the difficulty as well.

I probably get too greedy digging early, but I always end up getting smashed to pieces by a mob. And I don't even find copper for it :(

Tried a game of #mesecraft - I had to dig a shaft (1 wide, 3 high for each block, one step forward + 1 down each block) to a degree where I consumed 10 stone pickaxes before I came onto Copper ore - That can't be right!?

Is there some documentation for #Mesecraft ?
