I've stopped using #Facebook, but keep a Smurf account that I barely touch and only ever for events, only to realize that people have left the event system in favor of having private groups where they advertise their events as regular posts.
This is because the Facebook events suck now , where getting blessed by the almighty algorithm is a crapshoot, even if you pay for it.
There is #MeerUp for tech and university needs...
