  1. As of tomorrow, I will have been a subscriber to Means TV for 3 years. It would be so funny if Hasan Piker partnered with Means starting tomorrow.

  2. What is Means TV?

    Means TV is the world’s
    first worker-owned,
    anti-capitalist streaming service.

Tooting this FYI; I just discovered it myself.

  3. Check out last week in socialist history. I have been reading some Emma Goldman, so hearing more stories and piecing the timelines together gives me heart to continue growing a better world.

  4. And then they even get off on calling themselves "the world's first worker-owned streaming service" – excuse moi, but what about PRETTY MUCH EVERY SINGLE PEERTUBE INSTANCE OUT THERE?

Y'know, those sites that *don't* demand 10 bucks a pop from you and *don't* feed your data to surveillance capitalism?

There's even a very explicitly leftist instance: kolektiva.media

#MeansTV ain't no Comrades of mine.

  5. Just stumbled onto a video by Non-Compete that's an ad for something called Means.TV and lemme tell you…

    #MeansTV is bullshit: A thread.

They offer leftist content *behind a paywall* – you literally have to pay a 10$/month subscription fee – and they call themselves *post* capitalist.

This would be funny if it wasn't such an open display of moral bankruptcy.

If it's inaccessible to the poor, it's neither radical nor revolutionary.

  6. Esha goes to Moscow to ask Russians how live under socialism compared with today's capitalist society #MeansTV @MeansTV

True, uncritical praise of anything can alienate people. #MeansTV should have done a much better job with their recent video about socialism vs. capitalism. I just don't think it will drive people away who would potentially support this "post-capitalist streaming platform". But of course, I could be wrong.

While I concur with you on the necessity of critical and accurate work per se and on helping people to achieve that, I do not worry about who has done this or that, which might not support the whole movement. If anyone dislikes a certain group of people, this person can always pick some bad work or deed and held it against them all (collective punishment). One cannot prevent this, one can only argue against it.

Anyway, thanks for your ongoing critical support of the worker coop movement!

  8. @LeoSammallahti @syndikalista
Well, as long as worker coops are not perceived as detrimental to the party donors interests, they may get some support from the US government and that would be great.

However, worker coops mean the introduction of democracy into the workplace. I assume that would threaten the general interests of corporate America. Therefore, I put not as much hope into this current bipartisan support as you.

Anyway, the video by #MeansTV highlighted just some sentiments of a few selected Russian people about the two social systems they have experienced. As I said, the video is shallow at best. But if that would start a discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of different economic and social systems, then by all means.

  9. @LeoSammallahti @syndikalista
Leo, thank you for mentioning #MeansTV. I haven't heard from this "world's first post-capitalist streaming platform" before, but it seems to be an interesting project.

When you criticize their "video defending soviet union", you probably mean "We asked Russians: Socialism or Capitalism?" Yeah, this video is shallow at best. And it hardly helps with the necessary study of different systems. For this I would recommend, e.g., #rdwolff invidio.us/watch?v=5I45KVLe2Vo

However, I don't think #meanstv could damage the coop movement in the US with their video. If the ruling elite does not want that movement, they would need no shabby video as a reason. They would simply invent one (as always).

  12. "The middle class is a fiction created to obscure the relationship and conflict between the owners and the workers"

It has always bothered me how US media and politics focus entirely on the so-called middle class. Like why the fuck does nobody care about the poor? Now I know.
