Being a New Englander, I'm constantly impressed with how good a value Market Basket is. We spend so much less there on our weekly food bill than we would at Stop & Shop or Shaw's or even Walmart. Having said that, we're spending 10-15% more on average now than we were before the Iran debacle began, so prices are definitely increasing.
At least their coffee bar is ridiculously cheap. Today I got a 32 oz iced latte for $3 and change. Take that, Starbucks!

I went to Market Basket last night. As I was checking out, a torrential rainstorm hit the area. The store had a couple of employees offering to escort customers to their cars with big umbrellas. I've never seen that service provided before. ☔️

This #MarketBasket story is so hilarious. The beloved namesake #CEO is organizing a #strike. Again. (In 2014, the individual stores went so far as to put up signs asking customers to shop elsewhere.)
The Board that put him on leave (who I assume wear expensive suits and make phone calls while speeding in convertibles) claim that, among other things, he doesn't make an annual budget.
That's a claim that passes the smell test for sure.

Sometimes I go to Market Basket (regional US grocery store) and they have none of some standard produce item. I think that's just how Market Basket rolls. I went yesterday and they were out of bananas. No organic, no conventional, no mini: no bananas. Other times it's been green peppers, zucchini, broccoli, and probably several other things I've long forgotten about

They became impossible to find. People seemed to forget what they are. I skipped this summer staple for two years, but tried again this year
#Shaws clerk didn't know what I was talking about, but did point me to some weird marinated Johnsonville "smoked sausages".
#MarketBasket butcher found them, but a clerk at the same store saw BRATS on the pkg plus the buns and exclaimed "italian sausage rolls, eh?
