#RPGaDay2024 Day 11:
In my experience, Magical Kitties Save the Day! is a tremendous system for running one-shots:
It allows for super-quick character creation, usually able to be finished in 5-15 minutes.
There's a wealth of opponents for the Kitties to face and crafting new opponents is vastly simpler than other systems I have experience with.
The game and its expansion sets draw from well-known genres that allow players to quickly dive in and understand what they're expected to do, while the hammy nature of the setting allows roleplaying to simply burst forth instead of requiring careful consideration.
Players are encouraged by the very forgiving no-death system to TRY SOMETHING rather than get mired in extensive planning that can take an entire session and yet fail to move the plot forward.
Magical powers' design ensures that every player gets a chance to step into the spotlight.
#MagicalKittiesSaveTheDay is definitely my favorite system for enjoyable one-shot games!
