Spending the evening asking our #HomeAssistant voice to play awkwardly named artists on our #lyrion server via an mcp server @dozigden is creating. I have a lot of obscure music and we’re in a continual try, analyse, improve and deploy mode on the fuzzy matching.
T’pau, Orkidea, and Nekhane has been a strange listening mix so far.
Still impressive for 20 plus year old hardware.

#Lyrion has a very handy virtual library plugin so we can add all common music to a shared folder, keep our own music in Andrew & Luke folders, and then have virtual libraries that show our own and the shared.
Going to be a long time to work through our big music collections but the hardest bit was deciding the structure.

I absolutely love #squeezelite for Android. It turns my #homeassistant dashboard tablet on the kitchen wall into a fully fletched #Lyrion client controllable directly from the dashboard and anywhere else.

I just got a premium new electronic Device that DIDN'T require me to create an account to use it, never mind a subscription. Feels weird!

It's a Wiim smart speaker, and it has native support for Lyrion Media Server, which is so old (but still up to date) that it is from a time when developers asked "why would you make a login?"

@nan0 Ich habe mich vor 2 Jahren dem #Lyrion- und #piCorePlayer-Universum verschrieben (siehe https://mastodon.social/@macst3r/111851225487340924 ff.). Die #Squeezer-Android-App und die Web-GUI des Lyrion Music Servers sind nun nicht gerade sexy, aber ich komme damit sehr gut klar. Es gibt auch einen Desktop-Client, der quasi die UI des Radios in ein Fensterchen packt. Und das Highlight schlechthin ist für mich definitiv die Multiroom-Funktionalität.

Discovered Lyrion last night. Self-hosted music steaming server. Going to give it a try once the homelab is a bit more complete.

- Synkroniseret afspilning på tværs af enheder.
- Softwareafspillere til computere og telefoner.
- Hardwareafspillere til stereoanlæg eller køkkenbord (#Squeezebox, der ofte dukker op på DBA til fornuftig pris).
- Et væld af plugins.
- Hack dit eget lort sammen oven på flot Telnet-interface.
- Fri software.

I have started rewriting #Cursebox, my TUI for the #Lyrion Music Server.

First, important thing to do was to add some colours to the splash screen animation.

I also added a bunch of different versions of the ASCII art "logo", of which a random is picked that fits within the dimensions of the terminal.

@neil Hi Neil! I don't know if this is still relevant for you, but: In search for something not entirely related, I stumbled upon your blog post about Squeezeboxes (I hope your Radio has arrived in the meantime). You mention you were missing a TUI, so I'd like to point your towards my things for controlling Squeezeboxes from a terminal: Cursebox. It may be a little rough around the edges, but if it works for you, I think the user base will double :)

Ich verwende #Deezer vor allem weil ich es mit dem "#Lyrion Music Server (LMS)" und auch mit "Home Assistant" verbinden kann. So kann ich auf die Nutzung der App (fast) verzichten.

Ok while trying to report the sync oddity with the WiiMs and the Logitech Squeezebox Radio's I've got I tripped over one of the 3 radios in my office that can sync up solidly.

Double checked, it's the converted UE.

The converted UE that can't use it's wifi because it's just broken or something.

The UE Radio that has a wired connection.

Yup, indication that the wifi on the Radio's has gotten poopier of late and I just need to flip all the Radios over to wired outright (and if they need to be away from ethernet, bridge them back in with a gl.inet router or something).

@c3loungeRadio als Favorit in meinem #Lyrion Music Server zu hinterlegen war mit eine meiner besten Ideen in letzter Zeit. 😄 Vielen lieben Dank an das/die Wesen hinter diesem Stream. 😍

Übrigens gibt es mit den #UESmartRadio​s bzw. #SqueezeBox-Radios ein kurioses WiFi-Problem. Wenn sich in der Nähe ein Wi-Fi 6-WLAN befindet, kann dies dazu führen, dass die Verbindung der Geräte abschmiert und man sie neu starten muss - zu erkennen am roten WLAN-Symbol. Abhilfe schafft der Austausch der Stock- mit der Community-Firmware. Einfach das Plugin "Community Firmware for SqueezeBox Touch/Radio/Controller" in #Lyrion installieren und aktivieren und die Firmware wird verteilt.

Es gibt 100e #Logitech UE Internetradios bei eBay, Kleinanzeigen …, die wegen des Wegfalls des Streamingservers nur noch mit eigenem #Lyrion Music Server betrieben werden können. Das Radio kam vor über 12 Jahren auf den Markt und kostete meist um die 120 €. Wieso wollen dann #Menschen heute immer noch 30, 40 oder mehr € für ein altes, gebrauchtes, meist dreckiges und schäbiges Gerät mit ausgelutschtem Akku haben? Sollen doch froh sein, wenn sie 'nen 5er kriegen und es nicht verschrottet wird. 😒

To switch to the community firmware, do these simple steps:
- on your Lyrion server, install or enable the community firmware plugin (3rd party plugins)
- in your Lyrion server settings, go to plugin settings, find the community firmware plugin and enable the firmware update
- your Radio's will pop up a request to do a firmware upgrade to 8.5.3
- after the upgrade the Radio will show a LYRION logo in place of the Logitech one: update succeeded

Die Lehre und Zusammenfassung aus diesem ganzen Desaster ist: Lauf! Raus aus Sonos, jetzt.

Die Frage ist, was man kaufen kann, das funktioniert.

Ich suche nach fertigen Geräten in der Art der Play:3 oder IKEA Bookshelf, die brauchbar klingen, sich im Haus verteilen lassen, eine offene und dokumentierte cloud-freie API haben und Multiroom können. Zu ersetzen sind 11 Geräte, darunter eine Playbar – aber das ist am Ende fast egal.

Als Dienste verwenden wir Spotify, Pocket Casts, ein lokales Airsonic Advanced, und die Tonausgänge diverser Mac und Windows-Rechner.

Fürs Multiroom-Audio-System habe ich heute testweise einen alten #RaspberryPi Model B mit #piCorePlayer bestückt und bin weiterhin total begeistert, wie einfach und fluffig der piCorePlayer in Kombination mit dem #LMS funktioniert. Einfach SD-Karte rein, Boxen ran, mit dem Netzwerk und der Steckdose verbinden und abtanzen. 😍

PS: Der LMS wurde kürzlich übrigens von #Logitech Music Server in #Lyrion Music Server umbenannt.

Interesting to see the new analytics for #Lyrion #LMS https://lyrion.org now its become a fully fledged community project rather than #Logitech. There's probably a lot of LMS servers out there running older versions so these numbers will only grow with time.

I got into #Squeezebox in 2008 and it is still the most flexible for managing a large local music library.

One of only 109 people with a Transporter which is my pride and joy. (1/2)
