A Reticulum Link costs three packets and 297 bytes to establish. For an isolated reading every 10 minutes, LXMF opportunistic delivery embeds data in a single packet (<255 bytes), skipping handshake overhead and radio fragmentation.

Propagation Nodes give duty-cycled nodes encrypted store-and-forward.

The above images are taken with hardware jpeg compression 640x480 with quality 90 (the highest), transcoded to WEBP with quality 8 (out of 100) to handle small sizes. There are quite a few parameters which I implemented and can be tweaked on the fly with keywords sent to the camera over #LXMF. I need to take the camera out (currently behind a window) and tune up the day exposure somehow to reduce the image burn.

I've long been fascinated by the #mesh network #reticulum & the #LXMF messaging protocol built atop it—especially for areas w/o reliable Internet, or where govt. blackouts occur. LoRa is a powerful capability which LXMF can use when it's available, but designing the entire ecosystem around it may have narrowed the imagination of what this stack can be.

LXMF deserves to be treated as a first-class consumer messaging protocol. Let's build it the phone it deserves.
