Inspired by conversations at #LocalGovDrupal's dev days last month, a blog post on ways to release more of your project's custom code as contrib:

#LocalGovDrupal Dev Days heading toward a close. One successful day of sessions and now we've had a day of sprinting with some 30 odd folks with several new to Drupal contribution from Councils. All great stuff.

Yay, my talk for #Drupal 4 Gov in #Brussels in January has been accepted. It's about preparing #LocalGovDrupal for the market in #France. 😎

It turns out their CMS is #LocalGovDrupal. That makes me sad because I gave a talk to the LocalGov Drupal community a while back where I specifically talked about how council homepages can get bloated and what they could do to reduce the size of them. I tried to encourage the LocalGov Drupal developers to make it really easy to optimise image sizes to avoid this sort of thing.

New! LocalGov Drupal Camp 2025
LocalGov Drupal Camp 2025 was held in The Abbey Community Centre (near Westminster Abbey in London) on July 3rd 2025.
I travelled down (despite the English rail network's attempts to the contrary) for the day as an attendee.

We had a great time last night at our Drupal Meetup in London! Big thanks to everyone who came along, shared insights and made it an enjoyable evening.
We learned a lot from Dan Flanagan about his Crossword module, which allows Drupal sites to feature interactive crossword puzzles — it's inspiring to see such passion for a contributed module. I am sure he will get a few more contributors for the module.
Finn Lewis and Ekes also gave us an insightful look at the journey of LocalGov Drupal development and showed how it's making a huge impact on councils across the UK by delivering better, more cost-effective digital experiences.
It was also fantastic to catch up afterwards at the pub for more discussions and fun. I will eagerly wait for the next one!

Is anyone on Mastodon involved with LocalGovDrupal? https://github.com/localgovdrupal
I've just discovered that the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham have switched over to it and their homepage has grown from ~2.5MB to ~20.8MB mostly because of lots of unoptimised images. It'd be good to get that sort of thing fixed.
Edit: I have now found a couple of accounts connected with LBHF's website relaunch so I have asked them.

London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham relaunched on #D10 + #LocalGovDrupal
I maintained the previous D7 build for 7 years & am super happy that the excellent team of designers and Drupal contributors at @chicken took over from me for the new build.
Along the way both @chicken and the H&F team contributed heaps of code and functionality to LocalGov Drupal and helped build a stable and thriving ecosystem around it.
I can't wait to see what else they'll contribute!

When migrating Essex County Council's website from #Contentful to #LocalGovDrupal we couldn't find a process plugin to convert Markdown to HTML; we've just released version 1.0.0 of https://www.drupal.org/project/migrate_process_markdown_to_html #drupal
