Well, I'm up and running on a #littlefedi instance, on a Pi from home. Is this my federated future? I suspect so. It's clean, simple to install and uses very few resources. A good companion to #snac and #gotosocial instances.

Early days yet, but thanks to @stefano and the development team.

Eventually I will attempt to migrate accounts there. I am at @elperronegro

So far #littleFedi has been great!
Easy to set up with SQLite and just get going really quickly and uses a really tiny amount of resources - great stuff!

Had a little problem federating with my other instances, but that was my fault - I didn't have hairpin NAT in place from and to the VLAN they're all on 🙄

Seem to be having another issue with switching to notifications in Tusky crashes the app, but that'll get ironed out I'm sure.

I'd probably also like to switch to postgres at some point (preference not technical) - hopefully there'll be a migration here, otherwise I can probably hopefully migrate manually. If not, so be it - I shall remain on sqlite.

No other concerns to report right now! All is well.

I really, really like it.
It didnt take much to self host it on the Raspberry pi I already have running GoToSocial.
The web interface is clean and slick, and quite honestly beautiful.
It already can do all the things, I would use on something like Mastodon. My favourite feature is I can turn any post into a blog post and it has a separate blog page that anyone can view my blog from.
For littlefedi's very first release its pretty amazing.

Hi,

Welcome to my LittleFedi blog, this is the first post of hopefully many. I used to have a blog that I hosted from Codeberg pages, needless to say I didn't keep it up. This was largely due to the fact that I felt, firstly, I had very little to say and secondly, that I wrote very little that others would want to read.

This of course may still be the case, but occasionally I find inspiration and think others may benefit from my efforts, so now that LittleFedi has a blog feature, I will try and document my projects, interests and selfhosting adventures.

The FreeBSD port of littleFedi was already ready at release time, and it’s really well done.

One of the peculiarities of littleFedi is that it was developed and tested first on the BSDs, then on illumos, and only later on Linux.

The first public instance, my own @[email protected] account, runs on a Raspberry Pi Zero W with NetBSD.

I don’t think many social platforms have started out on NetBSD in recent years.

I tried a thing, and I think I succeeded. LittleFedi was released today, and I was already thinking about dropping GotoSocial. I performed an in-place migration of all data, so here we are: same domain, same handle, same content, and same keys.

I was able to bring along previous posts, but not on the same URL. That's fine, I guess.

So far so good, very impressed with this initial release.
