  1. @davidho @davidho the part under the headline that worries me in all caps:“#globalwarming is so rampant that some scientists say we should begin altering the stratosphere to block incoming sunlight, EVEN IF IT JEOPARDIZES RAIN AND CROPS.” In short, #scientists want to slow down #globalwarming with SRM even if (when) they know it can (will) cause the dehydration and starvation of so many living beings. :blobangery: It’s #linearThinking instead of #SystemsThinking.

  2. In this interview with #DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis is that you can almost feel the switch between #LinearThinking and #DivergentThinking.

Much #AIhype is generated by “linear thinkers”. Even their version of #SystemsThinking, is linear. Appropriate for #problemsolvers. Rather dangerous when we trust them in #ProblemDefinition or when they take the Human Condition as a problem to be solved.

At least, Hassabis is selfaware enough to recognize limitations.

  7. About #LinearThinking.
Something I’ve found effective when I have difficult interactions with a few #LinearThinkers who demonstrate an antagonistic/strident/harsh/aggro attitude:

“We’re not talking about the same thing.”

It disarms then enough that I can be quiet for a while.

It’s not a magic incantation. It just feels like it.
