"What’s never been easy, and what remains difficult, is figuring out the right problem to solve, solving it elegantly, and doing so in a way that’s maintainable and sustainable given your means."

    Well put! 👍

Reminds me of this quote from the #book "Are Your Lights On?" by Donald Gause & Gerald Weinberg way back in the 1990s...

"You can never be sure you have a correct problem definition, but don't ever stop trying to get one."

  6. In this interview with #DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis is that you can almost feel the switch between #LinearThinking and #DivergentThinking.

Much #AIhype is generated by “linear thinkers”. Even their version of #SystemsThinking, is linear. Appropriate for #problemsolvers. Rather dangerous when we trust them in #ProblemDefinition or when they take the Human Condition as a problem to be solved.

At least, Hassabis is selfaware enough to recognize limitations.

  11. CW: Financial technosolutionism

    From Molly White in HBR:
“People are not unbanked because of some technological failure. People lack access to banking services for all sorts of reasons: They don’t have money to open a bank account to begin with, they’re undocumented, they don’t have access to a physical bank or an internet or mobile connection, or they don’t trust banks due to high levels of corruption in their financial or judicial systems.”
