Les bateau-phares ou bateau-feux étaient utilisés pour sécuriser des endroits dangereux mais où il était difficile voire impossible de construire un phare en dur. Les conditions de vie à bord étaient souvent difficiles. Celui-ci est utilisé comme bar-restaurant.
Dans la littérature, je connais deux romans dont le lieu de l'action est un bateau-feu : "Das Feuerschiff" de Siedfried Lenz (que j'ai du lire pour le cours d'allemand il y a fort longtemps) et "Terreur en Mer du Nord" de Michel Dunno dans la collection "Marabout Jeunesse".

Les bateaux-feux étaient utilisés là où il y avait un danger pour la navigation mais où la construction d'un phare n'était pas possible.
