Light Phone Continues to Fail QWERTY Test
I have read some articles about the Light Phone and other "minimalist" phones. As someone who wrote not one but two articles on my "ideal" phone concept (creative concept photography included), I am always interested in seeing new ideas in the space. I called for open source software, QWERTY keyboard, and an e-ink screen. This is an adorable flip phone, unlocked, with great color choices, and good price.
I'll consider one, but I don't think I can do it due to various addictions. 😁
I'll think about it.
I've done a lot of muting on my commercial social media feeds. That has helped so much. Maybe later, the mobile.
I'm focusing on real reading (of books!) now. Feels so good.

Okay. I have a month to pick out a new phone before I can no longer cancel my pre-ordered Light Phone 3. I really like my Light Phone 2, but living without a camera has been a little too limiting, and the folks in my life would really appreciate me at least getting that capability back. I am still bitter about losing the headphone jack, though.
But I'm starting to wonder if the issue isn't that smart phones do too much, and more just that smart phones are not something I can control. Plus, they all look boring.
There aren't a lot of open source phones out there that are super compelling, but if anyone has any thoughts or recommendations, or just weird niche mobile devices, I'd love to see them.
Kicking things off, I came very close to going even more minimal than the Light Phone when I found Sky's Edge Rotary Phone. I wanted this thing so bad, but folks in my life vetoed going that low-function pretty hard.

The version III is a very interesting camera / phone... It does something like the #XTransSensor in #Fujifilm cameras and doesn't use typical bayer sensors. The Light Phone is meant to be a full on detox from mobile phones. A pretty cool idea; which I've tried using a minimal text based Android launcher to try out the idea in the past.
