@harriettmb Given that Apprenticeships are employment with training, he's committing to creating 100,000 jobs that he has no power to create, the useless fuck.
-
@Geri is he going to give us another by-election?
-
@stevel Jeez, when 52% is some sort of supermajority for country destroying change but 82% is just taken as a note that you'll do what you wanna do via other routes, rather than via legislation, you know all you need to about what charlatans these clowns are.

@TriciaScott @peterjukes @thenewsagents I'm old enough to remember how #Sunak got his feet under the top table in the first place: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/feb/13/sajid-javid-resigns-as-chancellor-amid-boris-johnson-reshuffle so it's no real surprise that his puppet master is still pulling the strings.
One question always worth asking when #DominicCummings is involved is #WhereIsGove ?

CW: UK Politics
@RolloTreadway @sylviademars Not sure what else they can do to make it any more obvious! IMO they already are but I think they know they can't frame it that way (cos few people are explicitly anti environmental).
So ULEZ is great for them because they can borrow the huge investment made by the car industry into convincing people that their car is the avatar of their personal liberty, 'We're not anti-environment, we're pro-liberty'
-
The #Uxbridge #byelection result makes me somewhat nervous for all my #uk #BikeTooter buddies. That's twice in month now the #Tories have been handed election victories by folk so addicted to their #cars that they stop seeing the bigger picture, so expect a lot more pro-car (anti everything else) rhetoric in the coming months as they try to force a #CultureWar dividing line out of this.
-
Wow, people's addiction to their cars is so severe that they'll vote for crooks and criminals if they promise not to interfere with their use of them.
We are deeply fucked.
-
@nataliesedacca Free markets are for Banks, Water Co's and high carbon Petro-Chemical firms.
Everyone else gets lots of petty state meddling for the benefit of nobody but the politician doing the meddling.
-
@liverpoolrichard The trouble with late stage capitalism is eventually you run out of other people's assets to strip.
-
@olimould what I don't get with these pledges is that if we are credulous enough to believe they have the sills or powers to halve inflation, doesn't that imply thay also had the skill/power to prevent it getting where it is but chose not to? #RatsInASack #LifeInAFailedState

@black_intellect Looks like this rather interesting list is due its bi-monthly update
I wonder if Nadhim 'Proceed until apprehended' Zahawi will appear on the next one?
-
@fkamiah17 It's hard to believe that there are, they aren't even pretending not to be a crime syndicate any more.
-
@fkamiah17 Using our money to keep his horses warm was apparently a 'mistake' too. One has to wonder if he's as careless with his own money as he is, repeatedly, with ours.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2013/nov/10/nadhim-zahawi-admits-taxpayers-electricity-stables
How much money have his business operations lost to similar carelessness?
-
@black_intellect For someone who's apparently a 'successful businessman', converted to public service, he does seem to be quite careless about financial matters.
His use of our money to heat his horses' stables was also, apparently, a mistake rather than fraud.
One has to wonder if he's quite so careless with his own money and if he might have been an even more successful business man had he not been so prone to these types of errors?
-
It's clear to me that #NadhimZahawi shouldn't be sacked.
He should be in prison, the scummy fuck.

@Evanderstap 'Vote with your conscience' is (while we have FPTP) the second plank of disengagement strategies.
There's (essentially) only 1 party for twats & multiple for those of us with a concience, IMO it was this 'divide and conquer' strategy that nailed the 2017GE. Strategic voting is crucial if we're going to win our country back, #GTTO is step one.
I'm not addressing the supremacist strawman, they're not so this is a moot point. I'm not Labour, I'm a pragmatist.
-
@Evanderstap I hear ya, but I don't particularly get where this leads in terms of how to act.
Are we saying that because the lesser of 2 evils isn't less evil enough we should settle for persisting with the greater evil?
It's this appeal to hopelessness that I'm calling out as the key plank of voter disengagement strategies. We only have the candidates and systems we have, unless we're reaching for the pitchforks we have to work with what we've got.
-
@Evanderstap Beware the dark arts of voter disengagement strategies. The 'they're all the same, why bother' pitch is starting to build momentum.
Starmer may not be the best we could hope for, but the idea that he (or anything) could be as wrong and dangerous as the modern Conservative party is some distance from obvious and observable reality.

Is the Maths thing happening before or after all the homeless people have been given City jobs in Banking and Finance?
Will the 40 new hospitals and 20,000 Police officers be sorted before or after they've addressed the self-created small boat 'crisis'?
-
@ChrisMayLA6 Tory small state ideology seems to have painted itself into a corner, whereby the only valid state is a failed state.
The solitary purpose of government, in their narrow minds, is to aid and accelerate regulatory capture, everything else is 'socialism' or 'nanny state'.
-
@rossbright Holy Fuck! I thought this was a satirical parody, but a bit further down my timeline I see a link to a news source suggesting he actually said this?! WTAF?!
-
@ChrisMayLA6 Doesn't Steve Barclay's involvement in the Health Service extend to understanding the difference between a cause and symptom?
Strikes are symptoms of a failing elsewhere.
-
@johnhobson I'm sure we'll be fine, they're calling up an underfunded Army to fill the gap and should we require the Army (which seems unlikely cos the world is in such a good, stable place atm) we can call up some un-trained civilians to fill that gap. Anyway those 40 new (and fully staffed) hospitals will be along any moment now....
