Trumpet update: I've now had three lessons, and yesterday my teacher also gave me the book he used to use for beginners, and it's super. I can play whole notes from the A below middle-C and up to the C above middle-C.
Yesterday I learnt B-flat.
Teacher: So now you know your first flat!
Me: Yes! And it's B-flat, which is my favourite flat.
Teacher: ...is it?
It then occurred to me that not everyone has favourite flats? Surely that's not the case!

Gouache fun continues. Only three colors (red, yellow, blue) and white are used in these, and color mixing magic fascinates me; I don't have that luxury with pastel. They are both supposed to be more gray, but when I try they come out in greens or violets. Richard K. Blades (on Instagram) is a great teacher.

@chrisshaw @RickiTarr But that will be a choice for individual admins. And if I really don't like what my instance is doing (unlikely in my own case), I can always set up my own instance. And that would, of itself, be a learning experience, which is always a good thing.
