Neurodiversity in education has become a bit of a specialist topic for me, I guess.
This will be the fifth conference where I've talked about different aspects of it, and most of those talks are online, so I guess I'll do a little thread, starting with the most recent - which is about the #LEANSproject and neurodiversity at school more broadly.

Looking forward to my 11am panel at #ITAKOM! I'll be talking about #neurodiversity in #education, with three other autistic educators.
I'm also looking forward to Alyssa Alcorn's related talk on the #LEANSproject at 9:40.

I was invited to give a talk (online) at the 2nd Neurodiversity Forum in Korea (제2회 신경다양성 포럼) about the #LEANSproject - Learning About Neurodiversity at School. I talked about that, and what #neurodiversity is, and why it's so important for schools to understand it. That means pupils, teachers and all kinds of support staff!
The LEANS project is mainly about kids understanding it, though. When children are young they're usually so accepting - taking everything in their stride - but as they get older, they get the message that they should fear difference, and that some kinds of people are unacceptable.
It could help so much if we make sure that kids get the message that different people have very different experiences of the world, and that's good and healthy.
