Super cool project;

It's an alternate front end for Kiwix's ZIM's. Auto updating through torrents with seeding, catalogue search, tons of built ins, like calendar, sky and space data. ZIM's are sorted by category, with custom sorting and favourites.
It even pulls random data for some ZIM's, like "word of the day" or "this day in history".
The world map ZIM works amazing with search and random locations, although a bit slow on a Pi5.
Something I've found really interesting is from the home screen you can click the random button and it'll give you a random article from all your ZIM's.
A big bonus is the dev is very friendly!

Does anybody know a workflow for converting exported #MediaWiki XML (as produced by `Special:Export`) to a ZIM for use with #KiwiX?
I'm willing to write some Python code for this if needed but would be happier if there's some tool that lets me just drop in the XML and get a KiwiX-ready ZIM out. I'm not fussed about the aesthetics of the result.

Wikipedia has a 'built-in' reverse video button which is excellent for reading in low light (i.e. non-office) conditions.

#tiddlywikiFinally landed on an alternative to using google as my default search engine. The screenshot is my default browser page, which is made using TiddlyWiki. Frequently visited sites are put into the main section (a "tiddler"). Kiwix search allows me to run local searches on downloadable databases (including wikipedia snapshots!!) without even going online. There's a couple of alternative search engines using the Bing index as a last resort.
My other tiddlers allow me to integrate notes/reminders with bookmarks. All of this is contained in a single .html file that is very easy to maintain/modify.
This "workflow" disconnects from any direct use of google search completely.

Internet in a box can be the starting point for so many smaller projects. You don’t have to run all of it for every project.
I use it as the foundation for my little free e-library,https://github.com/michaelbelcher/LittleFreeELibrary
But it can also be used as a stand alone NextCloud instance, offline Wikipedia/ #kiwix server or open source maps interface.

I think #kiwix is how I am going to use #wikipedia with #emacs. It works really well especially with Emacs 30 in which #shr can render small images inline.
Since kiwix has no branding and the left column with the links with which shr struggles is also absent, the article is much cleaner and loads must faster. Really good for quickly looking at #math and #physics articles.

@Em0nM4stodon I feel like it's worth mentioning that #internetinabox (https://internet-in-a-box.org) ships with #kiwix, and a variety of tools to simplify the creation and distribuiton of (optionally) offline hotspots to share these collected works as well.
I've prototyped a couple in my rPi400 and it works really well, 10/10 would recommend for redundant distributions of valuable educational resources, with a front end for non-techies.
Bonus: it's basically just a #debian distro

Does anyone know of well-maintained or slightly out-of-date TXT or html dataDump of wikipedia, stackExchange or stackoverflow? I love to browse offline, but kiwix is not accessible with screen readers last I checked.
