This whole #KeepAndroidOpen thing (@keepandroidopen) has definitely not gotten the amount of attention it deserves. (Including from myself.)
TLDR: Google wants to lock down (at the #Android #OS level, rather than at the #PlayStore level) what can be installed on #Android phones. That would most likely be the end of (legit) alternative AppStores like @fdroidorg .

I was just remembered about the fact that Google's weird developer registration thing is going to prevent people from installing apps from other sources. I now wonder wheter that would affect me: my phone runs almost entirely free software, i have google play store disabled, and i get all my apps from f-droid or aurora store

Hier kam neulich ein toot zu AnyAPK, eine App, die die Google-Blockage umgeht und die Möglichkeit offen hält, nicht von Google autorisierte Pakete aus andern Stores zu installieren.Ich kann den toot nicht mehr finden (entweder ist die fedilab-Suche wieder unterirdisch oder ich bin einfach zu blöd. Okay. 2) aber hier ist die Anleitung mit etwas Hintergrund
