Es steht eine Datenschutz-Apokalypse bevor, und die Demokraten sind genauso verantwortlich wie die Republikaner. Es gibt da diese Buchreihe, von der du mich wahrscheinlich noch nie sprechen gehört hast, geschrieben von einem katholischen Anarcho-Monarchisten, der Nazis hasste, aber seinen eigenen instinktiven Rassismus nie wirklich aufgearbeitet hat. Der Herr der Ringe von J. R. R. Tolkien. Ich weiß nicht, ob du das wusstest, aber ich stehe ziemlich auf Der Herr der Ringe. (Das ist ein Witz, für alle, die mich nicht kennen. Ich beziehe mich unangenehm oft auf Tolkien.)
#Tolkien war kein subtiler Autor. Er schreibt über tapfere Soldaten des Lichts und über hirnlose (und rassistisch kodierte, was ihm zum Vorwurf gemacht wird) Schurken der Dunkelheit. Und sein Bösewicht aller Bösewichte, der archetypische „Big Bad“, von dem alle „Big Bads“ des 20. Jahrhunderts abgeleitet sind, war Sauron.
Und #Sauron hatte ein Handy. Eine Kristallkugel, mit der er seinen besten Handlanger, #Saruman, anrufen konnte. Es gab ein ganzes Netzwerk dieser Telefone, und Sauron konnte jeden ausspionieren, der eines besaß.
Diese Kristallkugeln? Tolkien nannte sie die Palantíri.
Vielleicht hat sich das wohl einflussreichste Unternehmen, das daran arbeitet, den #Überwachungsstaat in den Vereinigten Staaten auszubauen, Palantir, nach diesen Steinen benannt. Sie haben sich nach einem Werkzeug benannt, das vom Inbegriff des Bösen und der Macht für böse Zwecke genutzt wurde. Das weißt du wahrscheinlich.
Letztes Jahr hat der CEO von Palantir, Alex #Karp, ein Buch mit dem Titel The Technological Republic mitverfasst. Theoretiker haben es nüchtern als #Technofaschismus bezeichnet, und es ist ganz offensichtlich ein Versuch, den Weg für KI-Killermaschinen zu ebnen. Da niemand mehr die Lust hat, ganze Bücher zu lesen (und um ehrlich zu sein, ich will dieses spezielle Werk auch nicht lesen), hat Palantir eine 22-Punkte-Zusammenfassung veröffentlicht. Das ist wie aus Starship Troopers. Sie schlagen vor, dass Silicon Valley eine Pflicht gegenüber der Nation hat und nicht nur westliche Werte schützen, sondern sie weltweit verbreiten soll. Einzelpersonen haben die Pflicht, dem Staat zu dienen und Militärdienst zu leisten. Manche Kulturen sind degeneriert und weniger wertvoll als andere. Pluralismus war ein Fehler. Führungskräfte sollten der Öffentlichkeit gegenüber nicht rechenschaftspflichtig sein. Es geht immer so weiter.

Der Titel spielt auf das "gilded age", das vergoldete Zeitalter der US-Ölbarone vor 100 Jahren an.
Silverman zeichnet ein garstiges Sittenbild, wie eine parasitäre Oberschicht aus sogenannten "Entrepreneurs", Investoren, Zockern, Opportunisten und Betrügern in den #Faschismus abgedriftet ist.

His loyal lieutenant #Alex #Karp, the CEO of Palantir, was voted on to the board of Bilderberg a few years ago.
Karp, who claims his company is “responsible for most of the targeting in Ukraine”, recently told the New York Times that the US will “very likely” soon be fighting a three-front war with China, Russia and Iran.
In some respects, the geopolitical mood today is not so different from how it was in the 1950s, when Bilderberg was born.Top of the agenda at the first meeting in 1954 was “the attitude towards communism and the Soviet Union”,
with the “strictly confidential” conference report referring repeatedly to “the communist threat”.
Seventy years later, at the most recent summit in Madrid, the primary threat is “Russia”,
which sat grimly at the foot of the conference agenda underneath “Ukraine and the world”, and “the future of warfare”.In 1954, the alliance was facing “the emergence ofcommunist imperialism”.
In 2024, it’s up against what Stoltenberg calls “the emerging axis of autocrats”, headed by Russia, China and North Korea.#Stoltenberg and his successor as secretary general, #Rutte, were both at this summer’s Madrid meeting.
Joining them in the conference hall were a clutch of high-up Pentagon officials and Nato’s second most senior military leader,
US general #Chris #Cavoli, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe.
It was Cavoli’s second conference, and he’s not the first Saceur to attend the talks: they’ve been coming along to strategise since the mid-60s.
Bilderberg has always had close links with the military:
its founders included senior members of British and American intelligence,
and a previous Nato leader, #Lord #Carrington, chaired the group from 1990 to 1998.Even the shamefaced resignation of its founding chair, #Prince #Bernhard of the Netherlands, had a military twist:
he was caught up in the Lockheed bribery scandal of 1976, the only year (pre-Covid) that the conference was cancelled.
And it’s telling that arguably the most dominant figure at Bilderberg in the last several decades was the grand strategist and warmonger, #Henry #Kissinger, who was lauded as a foreign policy genius by some and despised as a mass-murdering war criminal by others.
