Belgian Post electrifies its bicycle fleet, adds large trailers
bpost sends 10,000 mailmen on rounds every day, of which 3,000 ride bicycles. Of these, 1,260 postmen still cycle completely under their own power. That is why bpost still has around 1,500 classic bicycles in use. The company will now gradually remove those bicycles from circulation and replace them with electric models. A first new order for 440 e-bikes was placed this year.

It was declared insolvent in late September. The buyer is Emoving, a subsidiary of Tristar and Dutech. The latter is a Singapore based service provider (eg contract with DBahn for tickets vending machines), which has already rescued another bicycle manufacturer.

This week sees the expansion of Giessen's NextBike public hire system with four cargobikes. In order to promote it, they filled one of the bikes with free chocolates and vouchers to try the service, and rode it around busy shopping streets.

In Frankfurt, Amazon trials tram-#cargobike transmodal delivery system
FAZ Since Friday a green freight tram transports parcels from the Stadion stop on the outskirts of the city to the Zoo tram stop and the Gutleut depot of the Frankfurt Transport Company (VGF). There, drivers of six cargo bikes take over the order and deliver it to customers. The research project „LastMileTram“ of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences is going into real operation for four weeks.
