Because suddenly, in their minds, they’ve become one of the lazy, dishonest, irresponsible people they scorn so much.
And the only solution they know - “Just pay your bills” - isn’t an option.
So what then?
They’ll have to look for help. But they’ll have to swallow a little pride first.

But what they don’t understand is that debt collectors aren’t the good guys. They don’t always get it right. And even when they do, it doesn’t mean their targets are bad people.
Because there are a million reasons someone might have for not paying back a debt.
And some day, one of those reasons might happen to the “Just pay your bills” trolls.
When it does happen, they won’t know how to handle it.

The “Just pay your bills” trolls are out again.
I feel sorry for them.
Whenever I talk about stopping wrongful debt collection, someone who’s got the world figured out will always offer that advice.
Because they think people fighting debt collection are the ones at fault.
As if they’re lazy, irresponsible, or even dishonest.
And the commenter is always in the morally superior position.
