A Marvel Studios (Television) divulgou um novo trailer de “Wonder Man”, título conhecido no Brasil como “Magnum”, oferecendo o primeiro vislumbre claro dos superpoderes de Simon Williams.
Até então vendida como uma sátira metalinguística sobre Hollywood, a produção agora assume de vez sua natureza super-heroica ao confirmar que o protagonista vivido por Yahya Abdul-Mateen II é, de fato, um indivíduo com habilidades extraordinárias e uma potencial ameaça aos olhos do governo.

A nova prévia estabelece que Simon, um ator frustrado em busca de reconhecimento, tenta esconder sua verdadeira natureza para conquistar o papel principal no reboot fictício de Wonder Man. No entanto, a pressão emocional e profissional faz com que seus poderes comecem a emergir de forma descontrolada. Esse despertar chama a atenção do Departamento de Controle de Danos (DODC), organização já conhecida pelos fãs por aparições em Homem-Aranha: De Volta ao Lar e Homem-Aranha: Sem Volta para Casa. No trailer, o agente P. Cleary, interpretado por Arian Moayed, é categórico ao afirmar que Simon Williams representa uma “ameaça extraordinária”.
O vídeo também aprofunda a dinâmica entre Simon e Trevor Slattery, vivido novamente por Ben Kingsley, personagem introduzido em Homem de Ferro 3 e resgatado em Shang-Chi e a Lenda dos Dez Anéis. Nos quadrinhos da Marvel Comics, Simon Williams é conhecido por seus poderes derivados da chamada energia iônica, que lhe conferem força, resistência e durabilidade comparáveis às de personagens como Thor, além de habilidades que já variaram entre voo, projeção de energia e quase imortalidade. O trailer sugere que essa mitologia foi adaptada para o MCU com uma estética própria, reservando revelações maiores para o desenrolar da série.
Com um elenco que inclui ainda Ed Harris, Josh Gad, Olivia Thirlby, Zlatko Burić, Demetrius Grosse e Lauren Glazier, Magnum marca o terceiro projeto de Destin Daniel Cretton dentro da Marvel, após Shang-Chi e a Lenda dos Dez Anéis e o aguardado Homem-Aranha: Um Novo Dia.

For many users, this has been the most defining characteristic of their use of a platform, and they are entirely beholden to it.
