Zapowiadałem, zapowiadałem i w końcu słowo cyfrą się stało. Na youtube'owym kanale Pora Imperatora wylądowała właśnie nasza rozmowa o filmie "Cyborg" z 1989 roku w reżyserii Alberta Pyuna.

Przegadaliśmy ponad dwie godziny, zbliżając się do zdublowania czasu projekcji "Cyborga" (który w wersji kinowej trwa 86 minut), ale było sporo rzeczy do omówienia, między innymi w kontekście produkcji tego filmu i wczesnych pomysłów na to, czym miał być.

Zachęcam do rzucenia okiem i uchem.

Na początku trochę bebłam, ale nie zrażajcie się tym – później jest lepiej, a rozmówcy podnoszą poziom rozmowy.

We wtorek rozmawialiśmy z ekipą Pory Imperatora o filmie "Cyborg" (1989, Albert Pyun) – jeśli wszystko pójdzie zgodnie z planem, nagranie ze spotkania powinno pojawić się na YouTube'ie jeszcze w tym tygodniu, najpóźniej w przyszłym.

Było to sympatyczne doświadczenie, czego nie mógł powiedzieć Albert Pyun o pracy na planie "Cyborga". Pod koniec był już tak zmęczony, że nim jeszcze ukończono montaż filmu postanowił zrobić na boku i na prędkości inny. A wykorzystał w tym celu fakt, że musiał zrobić dokrętki do "Cyborga".

Jeśli znacie ten film, to pewnie pamiętacie, że finałowy pojedynek między głównym bohaterem i demonicznym szwarccharakterem ma dwa etapy – najpierw naparzają się w deszczu, później zaś w opuszczonym budynku. W międzyczasie pozornie zgładzony przez bohatera złol podnosi się – niczym morderca ze slashera – i naciera ze wzmożoną siłą.

W pierwotnym zamyśle Pyuna, który nie tylko wyreżyserował film, ale i napisał do niego scenariusz, starcie to wyglądało inaczej – szwarccharakter umierał w kałuży – nie wstawał z niej, a mordobicie nie przenosiło się do budynku. Producenci filmu i wcielający się w główną rolę Jean-Claude Van Damme uznali jednak, że finałowy pojedynek jest zbyt krótki i zbyt mało widowiskowy, należy go więc rozszerzyć. Pyunowi nakazano zrobienie dokrętek, co ten uczynił. Wykorzystał jednak tę okazję, by zrealizować film "Deceit".

Pyun wybrał na dokrętki lokację, którą mógł później wykorzystać na potrzeby własnego – skromnego – filmu. Na tym jednak robienie filmu na marginesie – czy raczej: na plecach – "Cyborga" się nie skończyło. Miał bowiem zamiar użyć sprzętu (kamer, oświetlenia itp.) wypożyczonego do realizacji dokrętek. Bo wiecie – wbrew temu, co sądził Tommy Wiseau, przymierzając się do nakręcenia "The Room" (1995), profesjonalne ekipy filmowe nie kupują sprzętu, tylko go wypożyczają od zajmujących się tym firm.

Pyun miał plan, by ukończyć dokrętki przed weekendem, ponieważ sprzęt był wypożyczony do poniedziałku, dzięki czemu miałby jeszcze chwilę, by na sprzęcie i w lokacjach opłaconych przez producenta "Cyborga" machnąć zdjęcia do "Deceit". I plan ten udało mu się zrealizować – dokrętki zakończono w czwartek, a od piątku do niedzieli jego ekipa zarejestrowała materiał do "Deceit".

Jeśli więc kiedyś zdarzyło Wam się obejrzeć "Deceit" i zaświtała Wam w głowach myśl, że skądś znacie miejsce, w którym rozgrywa się akcja lwiej części tego filmu, to znacie je z "Cyborga".

"Universal Soldier" has a few shots from the UniSol headset perspective. Namely, GR-13 stomping on the face of a terrorist with his boot.

The image quality isn't great, but it gets the point across.

As far as I know, there have not been any authentic replicas of the headset. That would certainly be a niche market.
