The Devaluing of Everything · Supply exceeds demand. The supply & rapid distribution of everything exceeds the demand of those who are in a position to take it in. There are many who go without but supplying them with what they need or want does not profit, thus their needs cruelly remain forever unmet. Society built around economics is dysfunctional. Too much stuff (including even art, luxuries, food, ideas, housing, clothing) builds up to a burden for some, such that waste is a necessary coping strategy. This system is rotten. Critique of capitalism has been growing because it is the system producing these results. No amount of good deeds, good people, charity and kindness can offset the outcomes of a system that's perpetually running. Doing "just good enough" so that each of us may have an individual fulfilling (or at least enjoyable) life is understandable, and feels reasonable, but it continues the inevitable destruction of humanity. Sometimes it feels as though I'm anti-happiness, or anti-specific things that give people happiness. I don't think that is true. I am anti-this system. Those of us who are in it, who are on the richer end, are the ones who have the most power to do good for all. Within this society I have sensed a simultaneous drive for distracting pleasures alongside a desperate yearning for deep meaning. It is the same crisis. Changing ourselves and our systems is the path I see forward to escape meaninglessness and destruction. Banding together with purpose shares the burden. For the most part I feel awfully alone with my ideas. I have been talking it a long time; now I want to begin walking this path with others. The next step could literally be a walk and talk. I want to build (or join) a movement to a better future. I expect to start small and align with many others on the way. If these words resonate with you, please get in touch.

I wrote this instead of posting my latest painting again. I try to have a positive attitude about sharing my #art but it occurred to me that no one needs it. That supply of art, and ideas, exceeds demand. That the internet enables instant proliferation of all that and more. Why would (or how can) I expect my work to lead to financial reward given these realities? Those thoughts took me to the folly of tying human existence to economic systems. Thinking such things goes nowhere without doing. I seek solidarity. And I don't just plop words online and expect to be found. I actively #seek #fellowship in various ways. My results are mixed. Usually I find myself among ardent capitalists or drunken obliterators. I steer clear of faiths. I hope my attitude does not seem complaining. I feel rather good just tired of living the shared delusion. I seek friendships rooted in the blunt truth that our society is unsustainable.
