#Flu season comes around every year, but a new strain is leading many #GlobalHealth experts to worry that this round may be particularly severe. The strain—a version of the #influenza A(#H3N2) #virus—first appeared in surveillance reports in June, 4 months after the 2025-2026 #InfluenzaVaccine formulation had already been determined, and has been associated with earlier waves of influenza outbreaks in #Canada, #Japan, and the #UK.

  7. Now, a new study of nearly 34,000 veterans, finds this over-the-counter supplement is linked to a reduction in non-melanoma skin cancers among people who've already had skin cancer. The research was published in JAMA Dermatology.

The biggest reduction was seen among people who began taking the supplement after being diagnosed with their first skin cancer. Researchers found those who took 500 mg of nicotinamide, also known as niacinamide, twice daily, for at least one month, had a 54% reduced risk of developing another skin cancer, compared to patients who did not take the supplement. #jama #b3

“We are probably going to stop publishing in the Lancet, the New England Journal of Medicine (#NEJM), and those other journals because they are all corrupt."

Kennedy said agencies within the will create their own “in-house” journals. “They are going to become the preeminent journals, because if you get funding it is anointing you as a good, legitimate scientist,” he said.

  14. Mitä alempi tulotaso, sitä isomman osan työnantajan järjestämä terveydenhuolto raapaisee amerikkalaistalouksista ja ero alimman ja ylimmän tuloluokan välillä kasvaa jatkuvasti.

Maailman p**kin terveydenhuoltosysteemi. Avoid at any costs.

  16. OK, this #JAMA Viewpoint on #PulseOx is amazing

But I think it basically says "It's weird that nobody has sued hospitals for continuing to use racially biased pulse ox's. Like, they seem pretty liable to us. And they don't really have a defense"

It's JAMA, so there's more nuance than that, but also not that much more

  18. Study in #JAMA Dermatology finds that various #guidelines for skin #cancer follow-up are inconsistent. "A call to action".
Canadian doctors & pharmacists can see my news report in The Medical Post/ Canadian Healthcare Network (Sorry, password protected to others).

    Some highlights:
...A review of multiple clinical practice guidelines, from within Canada and beyond...

Researchers found “there is little consensus among clinical practice guidelines on the appropriate follow-up frequency after treatment of keratinocyte carcinoma. This is largely because there is limited data supporting one follow-up regimen over another,” said study coauthor Sara Mirali, a #medical and PhD student at the University of Toronto...

“Clinicians vary in how often they follow patients after treatment for keratinocyte #carcinoma ... Unfortunately, the optimal follow-up frequency is unclear, which has implications for patient outcomes and healthcare resources,” she told the Medical Post...(and more)
