I just wanted to say that I find IVPN's statement here very honourable and inspiring. In contrast to other companies I've seen, they don't exploit a competitor's situation for marketing. They also make it clear that they're not taking sides in that conflict, or other political or non-political conflicts that are outside the scope of what the company is meant to be and fight for.

Got off @mullvadnet today, since their co-founder seems to really like a right-wing party. Fortunately I got my remaining credit reimbursed thanks to their nice support staff. You should do the same if you’re a Mullvad VPN user! @ivpn is a good alternative, it seems.

@TenebrisNox I got a refund from #mullvad after cancelling. The entire conversation with support was quite civil and they said they would pass on my remarks to management. I’ve been using #iVPN for a month now. It seems to work well enough but is lacking some of the features that I liked with mullvad. Speeds are comparable, in my experience.

just throwing my 2 cents into the #vpn choices and based on what i've looked at in the last few days.
(yes i'm moving away from #mullvad not in a cutting off my nose to spite my face sort of way)

i've looked at the following and i've decided not to go with : #ivpn, #windscribe

i also avoided #kagi (incidentally also partnered with ws with discounts) which has AI , based in US and a paid model that I suspect I'll still be the product even though I paid. Either way, i've tested the free search and I don't find it life changing great.

the ones that made the 'okay' list was : #njalla, #xeovo, #riseup, #airvpn

i wasn't able to find (easily) a list of server locations with #njalla,

njalla, riseup and xeovo needed some sort of tech knowledge to get started, and its not ideal as i needed to get this for the household and mobiles.

only airvpn was one of the remaining that may had dubious twitter past. but it was the only choice left that had the server location i needed, so this was where i eventually land. mind, airvpn requires you to register with an account, so if you are worried about this, it's not for you. i don't use them for anonymity.

tbh, if xeovo had locations and native app setup, i will jump on it. right now it just felt like a compromise.

My year with #mullvad ends at the end of this month and I just started testing #ivpn today. So far so good.

Glad I went IVPN for my VPN of choice. Thanks to Ashville Charlie (on Mastodon) for the suggestion.

I like that they don’t ask for an email and keep things as anonymous as possible.

I was going to go with ExpressVPN but they are owned by an Israeli company that has ties to the IDF, which we all know is doing horrible things in Gaza and Lebanon.

I was happy with Mullvad VPN, a Swedish provider prior, but they’re openly funding right-wing politicians in Sweden and well, no thanks! The did give me a refund on the remaining amount of credits I had with them. So they clearly are dealing with blow back.

So many were suggesting Proton VPN, but their CEO openly supports Trump. Another hard pass.

So here’s hoping IVPN stays neutral. They say they’re going to. Fingers crossed.

Seems there's a gap in the market for a #European #vpn provider that explicitly say they don't support far right fascists and suchlike. And no, it seems #ivpn isn't it. I wouldn't trust them, with their purposely vague response. It's almost a bad as #mullvad's official response. The time for being apolitically is over. Pick a side and fight for it.
