Mini-Atlantique Regatta & its Weather Reports

The biannual race from Les Sables d’Olonne (on France’s west coast) to the Azores and back again runs from July 12 to August 15 this year. A spoken weather bulletin from the Issoudun transmitter site can be heard from 15:00 to about 15:55 UTC daily, on 7340 kHz und 17545 kHz AM, according to "Funkamateur", quoting Alan Pennington. Transmissions are said to start with some news in French about the latest from the race, followed by a detailed weather report in French, and another edition in English. While the deadline for the return of all the participants in Sables appears to be August 15, the "Funkamateur" report suggests that the race should be over after about ten days.

Reception should be good in parts of Europe and the Atlantic, even with ordinary AM shortwave receivers, and a bit of luck.

Picking up #NHK and 6105 (adjusted to 6106 and narrowed to 4khz to avoid a channel overlap a bit) out of #Issoudun on my #XHDATA #D808. Random wire antenna out the window on the north side of the house in Southwest #Michigan
