Watching the Kingsman: The Secret Service for my first time ever. The candidates needed to choose a puppy. There was definitely an Irish Setter among the puppies. Nobody chose the Irish Setter. Hmmmm - they knew they would need to train it.
I love my boy no matter what though.

Monday was our Golden Retriever’s birthday. 6 years old.
Not easy to get a group photo when they all thought I was asking them to sit in one place so I could give them a treat or so they could wrestle with each other.
Also, trying out @altbot to see how it generates altText even though I usually do it myself - just want to see how this works.

Got down to 5°C last night here north of Auckland. My Irish Setter is so true to his breed - he wanted to sleep outside last night. The Setter I had growing up loved to stand on top of his dog house in the snow and even in the coldest weather didn’t want to stay inside much. My boy now still loves to sleep in a sunny spot in the house, as he is doing right now, but he is really happy sleeping outside at night. Unless it is raining. Crazy boy doesn’t even like to go out to go bathroom in the rain - but if I take him out for a run in the paddock in the rain he’s all over it.

To me, Irish Setters are absolutely one of the most beautiful breeds of dog. Miles will always pose for a moment - before he explodes with energy.

Quite the pile on tonight. This isn’t because it is cold tonight (pretty warm actually). This is Miles being the boss and Doby just chilling and doesn’t really care. While Loki is always along for the ride.

What a tough life

My latest project - poles for my hops.
PVC pipe about 30cm into the ground and then 4+m of bamboo. I’ll rig up twine attached to a rope at the top so that I can lower the hops to harvest (and to protect them if we get another cyclone this year).
These are Wakatu (child of Hallertau Mittelfrüher) and Riwaka (child of Saaz) hops
Miles wanted to check on my work.

Another rainy day so time for indoor projects. Washing the walls and doors in the hallway. This all gets dirty because of the dogs. That’s all well and good, but this boy decides to not only supervise but he is laying down on the job.

四个品种分别是英国赛特（来自英格兰），爱尔兰赛特，戈登赛特（苏格兰），和相对小众的爱尔兰红白赛特。它们都是非常活跃的狗子，适合热爱户外运动的家庭。其中戈登赛特最大最重，爱尔兰最快，而英国赛特什么都中不溜，性格也最随和，所以比其他的赛特更容易适应城市家庭生活。当然它们性格都非常亲人啦，只是太过活泼，需要很大的运动量。赛特的毛毛摸起来是丝滑的，不过家里养的话，很难打理出照片这么好看的毛，搞不好就卷起来乱糟糟了，所以美容也是蛮大一笔开销。
我喜欢赛特，因为觉得它们的头非常漂亮，表情又很柔和，看到就觉得特别温柔。小时候看过苏联的小说，白比姆黑耳朵，讲的是一个退休老兵和他的英国赛特的故事，非常悲伤，给我哭的嗷嗷的。现在想起来当然是通过一只狗的悲惨遭遇讽刺了当年苏俄的社会现状。但相同的事情现在还在不断发生 😥
