As the grid loses power in heatwaves, and communities & landscapes face mounting extraction for battery supply chains, this video shows how we can make environmentally just transitions to solar at scale — cooking, heating, refrigerating food, and living our daily lives.
This is especially important in the context of mining, and furthers the vision of the newly announced Indigenous Peoples Principles and Protocols for Just Transition.
We're looking to support this vision in urban and residential areas through new housing projects, resilience hubs, and retrofits/conversions to existing buildings. If you're interested, we're very up to collaborate and connect with new partners on that!

✡️ Today's Jew of the Day is Ludwig Blattner!
Ludwig Blattner, also known as Louis Blattner was an early pioneer of magnetic sound recording, television and telephony. Although wire tape recording existed, Blattner adapted the technology to steel tape, creating the first magnet tape recording. His new device, the Blattnerphone had far higher fidelity than other recording devices at the time and magnet tape was more reliable.
Blattner had other ideas that were ahead of their time, promoting using a specialised version of the Battnerphone to support audiobooks. He also outlined plans for using his new Blattnerphone with telephony equipment to create an answering machine.
Blattner also invented a system for capturing color picture which would later be called Keller-Dorian cinematography. While this system did not end up being very popular outside of a few films, in the 1920s, any color movies were a novelty.
