Between my discomfort with the client and the sheer incompetence and disrespect from the talent agency, I'm strongly considering abandoning the $30 an hour job offer entirely and doubling down on the game dev work I've been doing in #rust with my partner. :rust:
More disgusted with #capitalism than usual, and that's impressive considering the baseline capitalism-disgust of a far-left anarchist pink-haired spiked-collar trans chick.

update: the background check service the talent agency uses was unable to verify *any* of my previous employment for the last 7 years. (because I'm #trans, probably) I have to do the legwork of collecting my own definitive proof for 4 jobs in that time. Same goes for the college I went to, which is closed permanently.
Part of me says this is a barely-legal filter to stop #neurodivergent people and other marginalized people unless they are privileged enough to have ample resources. The whole thing makes me feel gross to even continue to participate in.

#techbro culture is wild. a desktop support supervisor told me there are 20-some people on the team I was first-interviewing to join. when I asked if there were any women working on the team currently? none. when I asked them how their company fosters diversity in the workplace, the answer boiled down to "we employ people of all ethnicities." I got the feeling I made at least one of the *four* men interviewing me feel intimidated just by being direct and knowledgeable. Another silently shook his head throughout the interview for reasons I'll never know. I suspect I will not get asked back for the second interview. #workplaceequality #corporateculture #interviewingwhiletrans
