  1. I'll just sketch a few points regarding lessons of the two big revolutions, the Neolithic Revolution and the Industrial Revolution, preceding the present Information Revolution.
This is not an exhaustive list, nor a comprehensive treatment.

The Neolithic Revolution was a consequence of climate change after the end of the most recent ice age.

People were forced to switch from hunting and gathering as the only ways of obtaining food to farming not because farming was better, but in order to survive.
For the first few centuries their quality of life went down.

The switch to a productive economy led after a couple of thousand years to social stratification and a division of society into rich and poor.

The Industrial Revolution also initially reduced the quality of life of large parts of the population for many years.

    The Industrial Revolution boosted consumerism.

Another of the consequences of the Industrial Revolution was environmental pollution.
Mitigating some of it took many decades and mitigating other parts of it is insufficient, most acutely releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, but also pollution with plastics etc.

  6. Half a century into the Information Age and a significant part of humankind seems to be in sorcerer's apprentice mode, with no sorcerer in sight to set things right in the end.

    A rather uncomfortable thought...

Don't skip the classes on the Neolithic Revolution and the Industrial Revolution.
They all teach many direct lessons for today.
    Also uncomfortable.

    🙁🙁🙁

  11. The ills of the Information Revolution.

Yet another danger here, as if the others aren't too many already, is that the personal information so collected may fall into the hands of criminals.
Er, better replace "may" with "will".

It's not as if we didn't know, but the more awareness, the better.
Oh, and it's not just TikTok.
    Of course...

TikTok is tracking you, even if you don't use the app. Here's how to stop it

  15. In a revolutionary move sure to change absolutely nothing, Kagi News promises to end the scourge of #clickbait and make world peace with "pure, essential information" 🧘‍♂️. Because who needs journalistic integrity when we have community-curated content that definitely won't devolve into chaos? 🙄✨

The technology of the Internet has been around for quite some time now and still I am a little amazed that I can communicate with the antipodes (almost) _just like that_.

One of the interesting things about (so-called) #informationsociety & its #capitalist infrastructure(s) is we were told that it would involve 'disintermediation' whereas the mediators (the middle men) continue to thrive across many sectors... another promise of the #informationrevolution that has turned to sand in our hands
